Dürrer Hase Restaurant — Restaurant in Nuremberg

Ok, so I almost never write reviews, but this wonderful restaurant simply deserved it. Me and the wife celebrated a 10 year anniversary, I wanted somewhere new, so I found this highly recommend restaurant on Google. The reviews do it no justice. It is wonderful and small and cozy and interesting. All of those things are accomplished without a hipster vibe. The place seems honest. The chairs and tables are antique, and add to the stuck together Nature of the establishment. To sum up, the ambiance was perfect.

To the food. Me and my wife split a walnut salad, with honey mustard dressing. It was one of the best, yet simplest salads I have ever eaten. The food was timely and yet not too quick. For dinner I had the Entrecôte (ribeye) medium. To this I say bravo. I have never had a restaurant cook me a proper medium steak in the 10 years I have lived in Nürnberg. The steak was absolutely perfect, perfect crust, perfect cut, perfect. I had the roasted potatoes as a side. Nothing special, but it's roasted potatoes. With the steak they brought this Argentinian steak sauce (more like a Pesto really), and it went so well with the steak and potatoes.

My wife had Flammkuchen, it was also amazing and very well priced. Wife loved the wine, I loved my pils (although a pils glass would have been a nice touch).

The food was absolutely delicious! Since we didn’t understand German, we used Google Translate to navigate the menu, which worked perfectly. The goat cheese salad was fantastic—quite large and definitely shareable. The medallion of beef was equally generous and shareable, and the oven-roasted vegetables were over-the-top delicious. To top it all off, the cappuccino was delightful.

The staff was very attentive and genuinely concerned about whether we enjoyed our meal since we left so much behind—it was simply too much food for us to finish! A truly...

Small place with great atmosphere,

We came in on a sunday with a group of 10, and we had a great dinner. The personell was very well-mannered, the steaks and filets were perfectly made by the cook, who did this all alone. Also, while we unexpectedly came in with 10, nothing was late or wrong. Great work.

I'd recommend this place to anyone who is in Nürnberg, with a desire for good steak and wine!
