We were in town for a special occasion, the recent graduation of one of our nephew. The nephew and a group of friends decided they wanted to eat at Kullman's in downtown Regensburg.
There was a reservation made for 2pm for a party of 16, but only 13 people showed.
Being from the USA, I have never been in Kullman's and was very interested to see and experience the dining service, food and atmosphere.
We arrived about 1:50 pm, and there was no parking in the rear of the restaurant. So, we dropped off our group and went to find a parking spot, which was down the street and left (towards the railway tracks), where we found parking.
Once inside the restaurant, the decor was amazing and took a person back to 1950s-1960s USA diner. Very colorful and nostalgic. There is also outside seating too, if the weather is cooperating.
We were greeted by our server, Oliver, who spoke fluent German and English. Oliver also brought us some Menus in English. He took our drink orders, and appetizer orders. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks, and took our dining orders. This was about 2:30'ish.
Then we waited, and waited, and waited. About, 3:45pm we started to get restless. We had not seen Oliver, and had not seen any food. So, we inquired about our food, and we're told it would be out in 5 minutes. The food finally started arriving to the table around 4pm, with the last dish arriving around 4:15pm. This service is the reason for the 2 star service rating.
Oliver reappeared, apologized and explained that the cook had an accident and he, Oliver, had to pickup the cook duties. He had asked his fellow staff members to help out with our table and also to explain what happened to us. The bad news is, none of the other staff members ever came over to our table, or explained anything to us.
We saw servers all around us and even flagged a few down for beverage refills for the ~90 minutes we waited. As noted above, at 3:45 pm, we finally lost our patience and went over and demanded our food. The staff members should have all come together better as a team and covered our table. Hopefully, they will learn from this review or improve their service when these conditions and others like it arise in the future.
When our food arrived, it was brought out in waves, which is okay, given, there were 13 of us in the group. All of the food was good and we were very hungry and ate it quickly. It was then that Oliver came out from the kitchen and apologized profusely. He told us what had happened, and gave us our checks.
I very rarely give "service" a low star rating, but in this case, I cannot see how I can avoid it.
Hopefully the staff and the owner will learn to covered situations like what I/ we experienced today so that other customers do not have the same experience.
I would still visit Kullman's again and give them another chance. I think it's a good place to dine and they have a great atmosphere. The staff's very conscientious and I was having a good time as I got a chance to discuss things with everyone...
Read moreUpdate review (23 April 2024:) Downgraded to 1 star! Service and food quality are deteriorating! I ordered a delivery from them through Liferanto; the order took more than 1 hour to arrive! And it arrived cold! The fries were not only cold, but also tasted old and bad and some were burned! The burger tasted less than average! So, it was not only about the delivery time, but also about hhe quality of the food! It wasn't the first time by the way that I encounter a problem with the quality of the food; I ordered once curly fries (dine in), it was also cold and tasted bad and old! The packaging was the worst! The fries were not served in a box, but just thrown into a bag, which was not stamped; the burger box not sealed and some of the food was out of the box! I took a take away from them before, and the packaging was very neat, properly served and sealed and in order! It seems that their service is deteriorating!
Initial review: (It was a 5 stars review) I really enjoyed my time there! The waitresses were also very friendly. I ordered the clubhouse sandwich, with curly fries and a beer: really tasty! The surrounding is also nice: a diner style with cool American music ... I will definitely tried it again, and I do hope it will preserve the...
Read moreIm so sorry that i must give you only 1 star. And next time will think a thousand times to eat here again. We ordered 2 hamburger, 1 pommes for 3,90€. And when we saw there is pommes promo for the second order, only 1€, so we decided to order 1 portion more pommes. For the food, we must waiting so long. It took more than 30 min. So its not reccomended for someone who really starving is. The problem is, the 3,90€ pommes (as you can see in the plate together with hamburger, it tasted good and fresh), but the extra 1€ pommes tasted so old. You can see from the picture, the pommes in the bowls looks old and tasted very hard, enough to make my teeth broken. Im sure it was old and the worker made it warm again. My husband didn't believe at first, but when he tried it, he believes and said they shouldn't sell this. (the waitress know it from the start i think, she said clearly, the 1€ pommes is for me an asian, and the 3,90€ she gave to my husband an european. I dont know maybe it such a rasist or what, she gave the good to him and gave the worst to me). Please dont need to make promo 1€ pommes, if you give only old pommes that you make warm again, even i never make pommes warm...
