This is a tough review to write, because most aspects of our stay were great, but the one that wasn’t affected our experience pretty negatively.|This was a standard hotel room with 2 double beds and private bath with shower. We were on the 3rd floor (counting European style), 4th floor by US counts.||There was no fridge, but for one night we didn’t miss it.||The location is great, especially if you are arriving by train. It is about 7-10 minutes’ walk from the station and also in the historic center of town, so you are in the UNESCO area and can explore it on foot.||The hotel is a small operation, but friendly. We enjoyed the welcome drink they offered. Their reception desk closes in the evening.||Now for the problematic part: the AC. When we got into the room, it was great. It stayed that way into the evening and when we went to bed. Then I woke up at 12:43 AM feeling really warm. The AC didn’t seem to be running. I tried fiddling with it, but got nowhere. Eventually everybody else woke up hot. DH looked at the AC and thought that maybe it had been centrally turned off and locked: there was a padlock symbol on the digital display. We couldn’t call down to the front desk to ask because they had closed hours earlier. I opened the windows because the air from outside was cooler than in our room. Eventually we fell back asleep, but it definitely tainted our experience.||Because we were there just one night, I didn’t bother to ask if the AC had been shut off. I understand that energy costs are high, but this would have been a really lousy time for an automatic shut-off given the excessive heat warning and the floor we were on. As I walked down to buy breakfast the next morning the temperature difference between our room and street level was noticeable. And if it’s hotel policy, they could inform guests so we know to open the windows at night. Alternatively, maybe the AC had just broken, but it had been working wonderfully just a few hours before.||My recommendation, then, depends on when you would be visiting. If you stay at a cooler time of year, I see nothing wrong with this hotel. But if you are going in summer, especially during a heat wave, I can’t...
Read moreExactly what we needed. Just a one night stay in Regensburg and only a minutes walk into the centre. We wanted somewhere with secure parking for hubbys car. Easy to pull up outside the hotel to take luggage in for a quick check in and then to get to their own parking garage it was a case of left, left, left! Steps up to reception and then elevator to other floors, I think there was an elevator to the first floor but did not find it. The people on reception were extremely helpful and very welcoming. They even offered a free welcome drink, beer, wine, Prosecco which was a nice touch. Our room was 214 and overlooking a side street above the main entrance. We had no problem with street noise as only a small side street but to be fair it did throw it down the night we were staying so not many people about and it was also mid week. You could sleep with the window shut as they had air conditioning which was actually switched on and working. The room was not the poshest we have ever stayed in but very clean, nicely done, the bed comfortable, the odd item in the bathroom could have done with an update but absolutely fine. They even had tea and coffee making in the room. The shower was powerful. Breakfast was very good with coffee machine for cappuccino etc, nice breads, hams, cheese etc. you can leave your luggage if checking out of your room but wanting to explore the city for a few hours more.If you are wanting a few nights stay in Regensburg and secure parking, would...
Read moreNice place with parking in the back of the place. Driving in the old part of Regensburg is not easy, but we found it at last.||The place is lost in the late '70s or early 80s.... Well manetained and clean. The rooms was nice sized and had the minimum of what you need. The bathroom was nice too, missing a shelf to put the toiletbags on.||Breakfast buffet was small but good, ||Because we was here in the summer and the rooms doesn't have AC, the building get so hot that you have to have to window open. Well here comes the problem, because the street outside is so narrow and everything is in sement or stone the noice from the partypeople is emplified 10 times :-( .... We was not happy at all.||Asked for a fan since there are non in the room..... At last he found one, tiny small one..... but it helped so we could close the window and get some sleep. ||I understand that AC cost a lot to install, but atleast get a roof fan or a table fan into the rooms so you don't need to open the window.||Not recomended for the summer time.||Also desapointed that there was no compensation for...
