We visited this courtyard in October, outside of peak season, so it wasn’t as lively as it might be in spring or summer. The setting is lovely, with nice furniture and a well-presented space. Judging by the number of tables, it seems to be quite popular during busier times.
Service was quick and efficient, likely due to the quieter period. The Flammkuchen was very tasty—crispy, with quality speck and red onions for an extra touch. Prices, however, were on the higher side - it’s safe to say that Bacharach is a tourist hotspot, especially with river cruises and ferries passing through. The pommes, in particular, felt overpriced.
One thing we found a bit strange was that we had to pay in cash because the internet was ‘broken’. After reading other reviews, it seems this isn’t a one-off issue. Lastly, while the servers were dressed in black, they looked a bit scruffy, and a more polished appearance could improve the overall experience. Otherwise, it’s a pleasant enough spot...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and ended up having a wonderful lunch.
First off the atmosphere is lovely. It boasts a wonderful view of the castle up on the hill as well as some old church ruins. There is a lower seating area as well as an upper deck. You can also eat inside however we choose a nice spot outside in the warm sunshine.
I ordered a sort of pita bread pizza with feta cheese and olives. It was huge and very tasty! The rest of my part ordered the goulash soup and the schnitzel with potatoes. Both were also quite delicious. The prices were reasonable and the service was great. I really loved how when the waiter took our order he was instantly ordering it on his machine so by the time he was done our drinks were already on their way out.
Oh and we discovered a new drink that's very popular in Germany - sparkling water with orange juice. Super refreshing and easy to also...
Read moreWhile Bacharach was quiet in December, the Posthof still hummed with a good atmosphere. I was hungry but struggled to find anything on the menu without meat. I scanned the menu with trepidation, finding it heavily skewed towards meat dishes. Thankfully, the Spaghetti Gambas caught my eye, and it proved to be a delicious choice. The prawns were perfectly cooked, and the sauce had just the right amount of garlic and spice. The decor was understated, creating a relaxed and informal setting. One minor inconvenience was the restrooms located just outside the main building. However, they were easily accessible. Service was less attentive but friendly throughout the meal. Overall, I left with a slightly mixed impression. While the food was enjoyable and the service good, the limited vegetarian options prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending it...
