Last time i visited this place, the owner or at least he claimed himself to be the owner(old man with grey hair) introduced several wines in a friendly manner. I bought 12 bottles of different wines finally, and found 1 or 2 items were of good value for money.

After 2+ months, i visited again with friends, and below is what happened:

Waited for around half an hour before a tall young guy actully asked which wine we want. Not happy but still okay since the young man seems to be the only waiter there and can tell he is indeed busy.

We were told by the young man that for the wine we want, max we can take is 4 or 5 bottles of 0.5L package due to low stock. But we can take more bottles of the same wine packed in 0.375L bottles since they have more. Not really happy but still okay and can understand the situation.

Then the ridiculous thing happened: the old man with grey hair came in without saying a single word, simply took away the wine list we were reading(an old hard copy obviously using by many ppl, offered by the place earlier), then put a brand new wine list(one paper like newly printed without any signs of usage) on the table. On the new list, price is increased by 34% immediately, 11.8 euro one becomes 15.8 euro! And no explanation at all!

I can understand on the waiting, on the low stock situation no matter true or not. But for what u did later, only word I would use to describe is UGLY, especially for a return customer.

For sure we left without spending a single penny. You may not care about our order, but again what you did is sheer shame and ugly.

If you dont want to sell, you can simply say it is out of stock. But your greedy and dishonest double price trick...

It is nice place overall, yet I gave the place top score as it was more or less single place in Bacharach where I could buy wine at around 14.00 normal week day!!! Due to missing personnel (?) all the rest wine shops / vonotheks were closed. I even checked with somehow undfriendly Touris office.

The wine and food is decent, yet the pleasant guy running the show is overhelmed, he try to serve food, make the wine tasting - advice - make both at the same time - this works the best, run the cash desk and try to stay human in the town, which has no personnel to serve the tourists...

Food was good for what I would call " vesper" and wine we tasted let us buy a few battles....

We were so confused when we walked in the front door. The server guided us to a cute little outdoor patio though, and found us an English menu. We had a choice of 5 sampler flights - we both chose the mixed dry and sweet. And of course, I had to try the wine soup - I'd never heard of such a thing (7,5 EU. The table filled up, so my husband invited a couple who couldnt find seating to join us. They ended up being so interesting and funny. The whole afternoon was a treat. Good weather, beautiful setting, interesting fellow diners and a pretty low price. (16EU for 6, 3oz samples Plus 7,5 for the soup and 7 for my husband's...

We had the wine tasting "Diebesturm" and were rather underwhelmed. It wasn't our first wine tasting and this time only half of the 6 glasses were to our taste. We got to try different Riesling, Scheurebe, Sylvaner and Kerner - none of them made us want to have a second glass. Also we only got very little information on the wines, only one sentence each on a sheet of paper. The highlight was the artisanal beer. The location is nice (except for the cars and motorbikes loudly passing by which is the cities fault for not having a pedestrian zone and not the bar's).

Lovely little place to try some local wine. Their flights are so nicely sized and they come with a little explanation of the vintage and differences. We tried the semi-dry carousel and loved all of them. Left with a few bottles of their sweeter wines. The food was also excellent. I had the lentil soup, which was their only vegan option. Patrick was a great server and fun to chat with. Definitely worth a stop.
