Brot & Zeit — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Tastefully decorated and surprisingly spacious modern design. Pastries were delicious. Coffee was merely acceptable. Hot chocolate was tepid. Upon returning the (hot) chocolate and asking for a cup that was truly hot, the Barrista was on the edge of rudeness. Fräulein Barrista was completely silent. No apology. Refused any eye contact. No words.

The three employees were overly loud with their own conversations and too "busy" to take an additional order when we finished our drinks. I stood at the counter while they chatted among themselves.

There are plenty more shops in town who are happy to give good service. I'm a local and only live a short distance away, when I return to Rothenburg I'll patronize the other shops instead.

Extremely disappointed. When working in a tourist town with lots of foreigners it's best to give excellent service to all patrons.

RACIST, ANTI-ASIAN BUSINESS. I was queueing up and when it was my turn, I was totally ignored and treated as if I were invisible. The man refused to acknowledge me and instead took orders from a random white woman who was never part of the queue. Another white couple was also served by the counter at this time - all while I was still standing there RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COUNTER because it was already my turn. Horrible service and attitude. If you are not white, I suggest you avoid this racist cafe and give your business to another cafe (there are plenty of better ones in Rothenburg). I left without being able to purchase anything in an almost empty cafe despite queueing for 20 minutes!

Rude personnel. We came to the place during a heavy rain, it was full and we ordered coffee for takeaway. Once we got the order, we saw that we can separate one vacant table from the other which was occupied, and therefore took it. A lady came to us and very rudely said that we have to leave since “other people are waiting, and you are not allowed to stay if you asked for takeaway”, we were basically being kicked out.

After a dozen of rude words from her side, we found out that you have to pay extra for staying inside. Asked for a manager who then calmly explained this and left us alone. If we were explained this calmly right away, there wouldn’t be any problem for us to leave at all (although paying extra for staying in is also a meh concept).

Otherwise nice...
