Rothenburg, Germany, a captivating city, is illuminated by the radiance of the Middle Ages, as if transporting visitors back through the currents of history. It stands as a living medieval capsule, brimming with the allure of ancient architecture and the depths of antiquated culture.

Stepping into Rothenburg feels like traversing a tunnel of time, immersing oneself amidst cobblestone streets, ancient city walls, and towering turrets. The city preserves a wealth of historic architecture, with every stone seemingly narrating tales of bygone days. The market squares within the city center, along with the grandeur of the imperial palace, stand as ultimate representations of medieval architecture, leaving one in awe of the architectural skills and artistic ingenuity of that era.

The medieval ambiance of Rothenburg isn't solely reflected in its architecture but also in its festivals and traditions. Every year during the "Maria's Assumption," the city transforms into a bustling fairground, showcasing scenes from medieval life. People dressed in period costumes participate in various ancient activities and performances, almost as if time has reversed, resurrecting the grandeur of the past.

Moreover, in Rothenburg's museums and art galleries, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of medieval lifestyles, culture, and art. These venues not only house artworks and crafts from that era but also utilize exhibits and explanations to showcase the thoughts, beliefs, and values of medieval people.

In conclusion, Rothenburg, Germany, is an enchanting medieval treasure trove. Its ancient architecture, festival traditions, and cultural heritage paint vivid tapestries of the Middle Ages for visitors, evoking a palpable sense of the bygone times and the...

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is seriously one of the coolest, old medieval towns there ever could be. The architecture and the walls are straight out of the tales of yore. We spent two days exploring this quant village, inside and out. It’s a shame that a suburban-like city butts up against its East side. This is very bad planning and surely a travesty that should not be. Driving through suburbia to the village was a disappointment. Once within the walls, it was fantasy. Have a small car, because the gates and streets you drive through are very narrow. Speaking of the gates and walls - uber cool. You can sense the medieval aura and fantasize what it was like in the distant past. The West side of Rothenburg, the side with the Tauber river, is exceedingly beautiful and lush. A huge contrast to the East side. The Tauber valley is adorned with vineyards and woodlands with a serenity that beckons you to forget all of your troubles. Charming brick streets and incredible architecture are abundant. A village not to be missed. Walk along the walls, through the streets and into the Burggarten. Take a night-time stroll around the village. A place you will...

It is really a nice place in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Personally I found it to be cute, but others with me liked it a lot! It may be a matter of preference. If you're in Rothenburg, you have to visit it though!

Tip: This is a very popular place, so expect a lot of people there, taking lots of photos. However if you're staying overnight, try going there after 1800. Those on day trips or via coach tours would've left by then, you may be able to find it almost empty.

If possible, try staying overnight at Rothenburg. The town is very beautiful, you may miss many beautiful spots just because of the crowd, but since much of the tourist traffic there is doing day trips, you will find it almost empty in the evenings and early in the morning.

The juxtaposition is quite nice. If you read about it's history, it makes sense as to why it's...
