Terrible Racist Boss!If you are Asian, please avoid this restaurant. Our family ordered six main courses and one soup. When we realised it was too much food, I politely asked if we could have small plates. The female boss responded with a rude and snobby expression, saying, "We charge one Euro for one plate. How many plates do you want?" We were shocked. When I confirmed with her if this applied to empty plates, she informed us, "In Germany, we don't share food. This is your main course, and this is my main course. We don't share!"
We come from Australia and have been to a lot of Western restaurants, but we have never been treated like this. This experience has ruined our time in Europe and hurt my kids' feelings a lot. When I explained to them that maybe this lady just had a bad day, they said, "No, she was talking to other German customers happily." I should have read other comments here from Asian people before I visited. I can't believe such racism in hospitality can survive. It’s unacceptable to foster such an unwelcoming environment. Everyone deserves to feel respected and valued, and unfortunately, this restaurant fails on both counts.
——— Very well, the owner replied. I haven’t told everyone what we went through at the beginning. Were you blaming the customers for being late because of your internal communication error? Excuse me?
I personally went to the restaurant at noon to reserve a dinner table. The staff initially told me 5:30. When she realised we had six people, she changed it to 7:00 and wrote it down at that time in front of me.
When our group of six arrived on time, the manager told me I had missed the reservation time and pointed to the book, saying it should be 5:30. I immediately noticed my name written next to 7:00. So I politely explained the whole story. it was originally 5:30, but when the staff saw we were six people, she changed it to 7:00. The female manager rolled her eyes and said she didn’t know, then turned and walked away, leaving us awkwardly standing there. After a while, I asked a young waitress, and she told us to wait outside to see if there would be a table available. So, we were forced out despite having a reservation. My elderly parents and kids, six of us, stood outside in the cold wind waiting. After 10 minutes, we finally got a table and were allowed to go in.
Once again, I‘v never had such a terrible experience in any other restaurant in the world. Maybe there is something new I need...
Read moreTrying to figure out where to have dinner we stumbled upon this positively reviewed restaurant and figured it would make for a nice meal, we made a reservation and got there on time.
Some red flags starting showing early however we were hungry and ordered nonetheless, but we could already notice the service was not great, which got even more apparent as the dinner went on and we could see how other guests were being treated, needless to say they are not the friendliest bunch, and if you don’t speak German, you made be rudely treated.
We should have also noticed the disappointed looks in some of the guest faces, since it could have prepared us for what was to come: an almost flavorless Käsespätzle, and a poorly cooked steak.
Sure steak can be hard to cook and there is technique in getting it cooked to the preferred term, however if you cannot properly cook it, then you probably should not offer it. When asked I requested something a bit more cooked than medium, which they noted as medium plus, what I got was a poorly seasoned steak that had been cooked on the outside and was still quite rare in the middle, and I don’t mean the nice pink of a juicy steak, I mean the dark red of raw meat, a pity really. To be fair their fries were nice and their butter did go well with the meat, however in a steak dish it should be the meat that shines.
Cannot say anything about their desserts since we hurried up, payed and left after such a disappointment. Can’t recommend this and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a bad reaction to this honest review considering how they treat...
Read moreSpent two nights here last month. There were two adults and one teen. First off, the room set up was awesome! I requested one queen and one twin bed and we ended up getting a two room suite. So our son had one room and one room for the adults.
It’s a little hard if you have heavy luggage as there are only stairs. But you do get an additional key that lets you in/out a separate door so that you don’t have to go through the dining room.
We did not eat meals here but they looked and smelled delicious.
This place is well situated inside the walled city, only a block away from the entrance road and maybe two-three blocks to the town square. The view was great, we especially liked seeing the birds nest atop one of the other buildings. We frequently saw the birds feeding and nesting.
The windows opened up to the street and neighboring buildings.
We very much enjoyed our stay here. We walked to/from the train station with our luggage and it was only about a 15 minute, easy walk (aside from the cobblestones on your rolling bags).
I’d definitely stay here again. This was our second time...
