The city hall of the old medieval city of Rothenburg od Tauber is most visited town and most photographed in Bavaria. The city hall building is so impressive with its old tower. Beautifully decorated with lovely summer flowers! Many half- timbered houses in the area. Lots of shops and cafes, there are many Asian tourists here, e.g, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipinos. The Rathaus draws a lot of attention because of its impressive architectural design! There’s enough parking outside the old-walled medieval city. Really lovely visit anytime of the year, especially at Christmas time, this city has the most attractive Christmas Market!

Ротенбург (по нем. Rothenburg ob der Tauber) - очень милый город. Я его сравниваю с районным городком в СССР, в котором я родился. Тоже очень древний город. Но выглядят они по-разному. Здесь одна большая церковь, у нас было много небольших. Церковь св. Иакова строилась долго. Начало 1311 год, освящена в 1484 году. Наши церкви строились (17-18 века) быстро: 1-2 года. Этот город все время возрождался, наш - то подъем, то запустенье. В чем причина? Социологи на этот счет молчат. Мне кажется в наличии уважения к ремесленнику, а не к чиновнику. Кстати, город Ротенбург имеет побратима в России: Суздаль. Благодаря заботам местных жителей город сохраняет свой средневековый вид. Власти города предположили, что процветание зависит от сохранности средневекового облика, и решили полостью отказаться от модернизации. Сейчас толпы туристов посещают этот красивый маленький провинциальный городок Средней Франконии. Интересен музей криминалистики Средневековья (Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum). Экспозиция рассказывает о бытовавших в средние века «отношениях в обществе»: металлические маски позора в виде свиного рыла, с хоботом, длинным языком и пр., «пьяная бочка», в которую замуровывали трактирных завсегдатаев, и другие атрибуты позора.

One of the most crowded places in the old town. The viewing platform is accessed via the town hall and around 360 steps. Once in the tower itself the steps are quite narrow which would make it difficult with a crowd. Well worth the effort but much easier to appreciate when there is no crowd.

Be sure to climb the 220 steps up the tower for great views from the top. The stairs are narrow and very steep, so not the best option for those with mobility issues or who are unsteady on stairs. The last few stairs at the top and the narrow opening are especially difficult to navigate.

El Ayuntamiento es un maravilloso edificio que domina el centro de la ciudad y Markplatz. Una construcción compuesta por dos partes, una gótica más antigua que data de los siglos XIII y XVI en donde destacan el espectacular Salón Imperial y la característica torre de algo más de 60 metros de altura a la que podrás subir para admirar una de las mejores vistas de la ciudad. Como curiosidad te puedo contar que en el incendio de 1501 que asoló la ciudad, se quemó la parte oriental del edificio pero sin embargo la parte occidental, coronada por la Torre, se mantuvo intacta. Más tarde, entre 1572 y 1578, el arquitecto Leonhard Weidmann restauró la parte destruida por el incendio con estilo renacentista. Al lado oficina de turismo y una farmacia 1812 que todavía esta abierta.

This is the heart of this historic town. The clock tower is a must see as it goes about its task of ringing in the hour with automation. On the square there are often events of music or other activities. Take the night watchman tour that leaves here at dusk.
