Would give a lower rating if I could. The food was OK, the location was OK, the service was OK, what wasn't right was the following: I am of south asian origin, living in germany. We were sitting after our meal had just finished, the restaurant was fairly empty at around 130pm. The waiter came and said something in german ending with 'bezahlen' - which I assumed he is asking whether we would like to pay. as my German is still basic, I said, ein bisschen später. He repeated in English, correcting me - 'How' would you like to pay... i got uncomfortable because nowhere it is like this. it was like saying - get out of here already... 🥺 me being a generally polite person, I replied 'with card'. he said then come with me to the desk, I left whatever conversation my family & I were having in the middle and went with him. on the way to desk I asked if we could stay few more minutes (as it was cold outside and I had to wait some time before our tour started), he said, no I don't recommend doing that as 112 people have booked the place. mind you, this was fairly empty restaurant at the time of the question. at the desk, he said ur bill is x eur, and then he asked 'what would I like to tip - 10 eur or 20 eur'. i said in calm voice.. 'no, sorry, I m not that rich'. he thought I m not from Germany and he clarified, 'you know this bill amount doesn't include tips for our service, right?'.. I said yes, please enter the bill value and I proceeded to pay it. I hated the fact that I was too polite with them, and I should have taken my time at my table and I am definitely not the person to bully into paying tips for the service. I sincerely request you that you do not ask customers to tip you, especially not 40% of your total bill amount...if people could, they would. plus don't ask them to get out by asking how would they like to pay immediately after they are done, when even 20 minutes later the reservation of 112 people didn't show up. @owner, please pay your service staff enough that they don't feel the need to ask the customers for the tips, or even the need to recommend the tip value. by god's grace, we are in germany, let's keep...
Read moreThe rooms were very “eh”. We had 2 rooms, one had its own toilet and shower but the shower is right next to the bed which was a bit… weird. The bar inside the shower came off upon the slightest touch so we had to be very careful so it didn’t fall apart. The beds were meh, not the best but definitely not the worst. No shampoo or hand soap either, only shower gel. The other room only had a sink but was bigger, however there were no blinds, only curtains. So every car that showed up at night woke us up with headlights blaring in our room. Also the walls are pretty thin so we had to deal with a loud family coming in next door after 9 which woke up my baby that I had JUST finally put down. Not to mention the email I received from the hotel said dinner closed at 5/6, but when we checked in after 4 they said they were closing in 20 minutes which was pretty upsetting since the parking lot is down hill and I had my disabled grandma with me so after we settled in we didn’t exactly want to go back to the car, drive to get dinner, come back to walk up hill again and go upstairs. So that is why I gave it 3 stars, HOWEVER… it was honestly still worth it to be right up next to the castle. Parking was free for us, and if you want to park in town its €10 flat rate which is INSANE… but that where the good restaurants and shops are so I guess if you want to be over there all day it might be worth it. But staying at this hotel means you don’t have to walk the 40 minutes uphill to the castle, just maybe 7. And the view was BEAUTIFUL. Also, the other reason I liked this hotel well enough to be worth it was the staff were VERY friendly and VERY helpful. I was extremely satisfied with their service. So the stay may not have been very comfortable, which is why it lost 2 stars, but it’s gets 3 because of the convenience and the very...
Read moreThe Hotel or rather Guesthouse is located just few minutes walk from the castle. And probably this is one of the only benefit this place has to offer. If you come to see the castle (which is let's be honest nowhere near as beautiful as on the pictures) then this can be convenient for you. Otherwise I am not sure if I would ever want to go back their even if it's just for a coffee.
As there are a large amount of people passing by, while they are waiting for their tour to start they just want to have a coffee somewhere nearby. This hotel makes it clear they don't mind if you would like to join in the restaurant just for the drinks (which is nice), since you are still spending money, right? However when you enter and you make it clear to the waitress that this would be the case, she gives you funny faces and she makes sure you feel that you are not welcomed. We came across a very unfriendly service where they also didn't like the fact that we wanted to pay by card and our total expenditure did not achieve 20 euro. The lady who served us had a go at us if we can not see the signs (the hidden signs by the way :))) then tough luck... then gave me the receipt with such attitude... I am sorry to say, but you won't make it to the top of the booking lists if you employ such rude waitress and treat your customers like this. Hence why you have 3.2 star in here and hence why people book other hotels very close to yours but with a better service. To be honest this place was on our list for a night staying but I am glad I experienced the true picture before wasting my money on you and feel terribly...
