Cafe Konditorei Razen — Restaurant in Trier

Terrible service – avoid this place.

I booked a table for 10 people for my birthday with a per-person breakfast package that was supposed to include eggs, as confirmed in person the day before. I also purchased separately a full cake from them and agreed to pay separately for drinks.

When we arrived, we were shocked to find only two tiny plates of cheese and ham, along with a few small spreads (see photo) and mainly on the both sides of the table, almost nothing much in the middle for guests sitting in the middle— barely enough for three people, let alone ten. It was embarrassing and disappointing.

To make matters worse, they suddenly claimed eggs weren’t included, despite clear prior confirmation two times by her younger colleague. When I raised this, the older woman with glasses was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said her colleague made a mistake because she didn’t know ,and “This is what you get on your table or you leave,” and offered no honest apology or solution to make things better. This was very dishonest of them and they didn’t take any accountability for their error about eggs being included. The younger staff member who gave the wrong info was kind and respectful — I don’t blame her and even her other colleagues were very kind— but only the older woman’s behavior was very unacceptable and ruined the entire experience.

She later explained in rude way the breakfast was “all you can eat,” and that when we finish a plate we can ask for more of what we finish, but what they initially served was a joke for a group of 10 — clearly a cost-cutting tactic. Even if it’s an “all you can eat option” the food that we was very basic breakfast with limited options for money that i would get much nicer food in nicer restaurant for the same money & for 10 people.

She even charged me for 1 friend who didn’t show up and it’s not like there was specific meals already prepared for 10 people, I would understand that, but if it was an “all you can eat” concept and they put in the beginning food that not even enough for 3 people I’m not sure why it was a problem to cancel the reservation for 1 person. So at the end I paid the price for 10 people for only 9 friends!

One of the worst experiences I’ve had. Poor food presentation and selection (only the cake was good), awful service from the older lady, she has zero respect for the customers , and not worth the money. I do not recommend this place at all and I would never go back...

One of the best breakfast experiences ever !! We ordered scrambled eggs with Chives which was served with bread and butter and a salad on the sides , then we had coffee which came with a delicious little cookie and the best part , though hesitating we ended up ordering a Apple cake and i feel that was the best decision ever. That was best ever Apple cake that i had tasted in Germany and believe me when i say, i have been travelling to various parts of Germany since the year 2014. The people in the cafe were so gracious , generous and so helpful. We are definitely going back there and will always Cafe Razen in all our Trier visits in the future. "Komplett schlechter Service."

About the service, it was terrible. For breakfast, we bought "Alles Wurscht" and there werent any pork wurst as it is written. They just brought some much cheaper meat without asking us. We were 4 people, and some of us' food was in another plate and we didnt notice it until we were almost finished. They didnt bring spoon for boiled eggs and granola-yogurt mix, we need to go inside again for taking spoons. In addition to these, everytime you need to go inside for ordering and paying.

About the food, portion of breakfast was too less eventough it is expensive (and i didnt get why does it show only one euro sign on google?). Foods were kind of good, but in general we werent happy about the place, and probably will...
