Where to begin. Our server heard we're not German, and wasn't friendly anymore. (We're from Belgium, we speak a little German, what more can you want?) We got a menu for eating, but not for drinks. We were unsure of the price and size for whatever we were gonna get. When we ordered, my friends drink came after 10mins (it's just a glass of cola c'mon) , my drink (beer) another 15mins later. We had been sitting there for 25mins. We both ordered the days special, knowing it wouldn't take long to prepare. Boy oh boy.. i got my food about 10mins after my drink. She asked me if i wanted another beer.. since it took so long last time i ordered a cola. My friends drink was long empty, and the food wasn't coming. My kartoffelsalat und schnitzel was already finished, before he got his flammenkuchen. Both VERY quick recipes, and both specials of the day, specials should be prepared in advance, so they get served quickly. This should have been put on the table with our first drinks, and those drinks should have been on the table after 5 mins. This place wasn't even full, couple of people outside, that's it.

So when after my food was eaten, we asked where my friends food was, she was again very unpleasant: kommt kommt kommt. And guess what, i had to ask AGAIN before it came.

The waitress was running around with half orders, bringing one beer to a table while other tables were waiting for their orders too. It's really not difficult carrying 6 drinks on a platter. It's a shame to be thirsty, waiting for your drink, and seeing her come out of the bar with 1 drink on a platter..

2 stars though still, the food was good but too little. I do not recommend. This place. Perhaps if you call an hour in advance and order. Maybe you'll get served in time...

Wenn ich die Bewertung nur für das was auf dem Teller war vornehmen würde hätte die Pfeffermühle die volle Punktzahl mit 🌟 erhalten... allerdings muss man das Gesamt-Paket betrachten. Wir waren am Ostersonntag mit 5 Personen dort zum Essen. Wie vermutlich alle Gäste - das Restaurant war ausgebucht - hatten wir reserviert. Für mich heißt das vom Management her man weiß was an diesem Tag an Arbeit auf einem zukommt dementsprechend sollte Personal in ausreichender Anzahl vorhanden und die Küche darauf vorbereitet sein was hier leider nicht der Fall war. Nachdem die Suppen und der Salat einigermaßen zügig nach der Bestellung serviert wurde warteten wir etwas über 1 Std und 15 Minuten auf den Hauptgang. Auch die Gäste um uns herum warteten alle so lange. Da nutzte es auch nichts dass wir bereits um 12 Uhr gekommen waren... der Hauptgang war geschmacklich top aber leider nur lauwarm und leider bekamen wir nicht alle gleichzeitig das Essen. Als wir fertig waren kam dann noch eine fehlende Beilage...aber halt leider nicht zum Essen. Als wir uns getrauten zu fragen wie lange e s denn wohl dauern könnte ein Dessert bei Bestellung zu Erhalten konnte uns unsere Bedienung, die wir nicht allzuoft sahen, keine Auskunft geben daher kann ich keine Rückmeldung hier zu den Desserts geben. Wir hätten alle fünf noch eines genommen.. also Professionalität sieht anders aus. Das Einzige was wirklich rasch ging war die Rechnung, welche - wäre Küche und Personal auf Zack gewesen - um Einiges höher ausgefallen wäre. Laut internet wird die Anzahl der Sitzplätze innen mit 60 angegeben.... m.E. müsste man an einem solchen Feiertag mit planbarer Gästezahl dies souverän meistern können aber dem war leider nicht so...wirklich schade da das was auf dem Teller wirklich klasse war auch wenn nicht vollständig und lauwarm. Übrigens - da ich da aus familiären Gründen darauf achte - es gibt keinen barrierefreien Zugang in den Restaurantraum ohne Stufen...schon gar nicht in den zweiten Stock was dem alten Fachwerkhaus geschuldet ist. Das Ambiente altes Fachwerk mit modernem Look kombiniert ist ansprechend, der Raum unten ist recht dunkel dafür der oben schön hell.... ein schönes Haus und vielleicht bei weniger Gästen auch ein zufriedenstellendes... die schöne Gartenterasse mit weiteren 60 Sitzplätzen war nicht geöffnet... was dann wohl auch gut war. Sorry vielleicht nächstes mal eine bessere Rezession bei einer...

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Its clear from the comments below that the management of this establishment don't wish to improve (do you check the comments?). The service is absolutely terrible, we chatted with some German people beside us and they were appalled as well so maybe not just aimed at foreign people!? From coming in and receiving our meal was approximately 90 minutes. The waitress was turse and not friendly at all, I can see why people commented that they don't like foreigners visiting. I would expect a restaurant to be a most welcoming place to whomever the clientele whether they are foreign or local alike, unfortunately Gengenbach is a busy place so they will always get the foot fall. I would recommend walking past this place and going to the takeaway at least he was chatty and the...
