It should have been a warning sign, because the restaurant has an enormous menu, but when you study it you will see that there is mostly variations of the same theme... Starters were ok with the crispy rolls and the papaya salad. Except for the fact that we were given the vegetarian salad with tofu, when we had ordered it with the jumbo shrimp. The kitchen changed it in a little minute, in itself a big questionmark. How did they manage to prepare and grill the shrimp in such a short time? We ordered two of the chef's specialities, both duck dishes for mains. The main courses were brought to the table in record time before they had even cleared the table after starters! My duck with curry was ok, but in no way exciting or really spicey as I was expecting. My wife had the "dark duck", a total miss of a dish. It was cooked duck in a watery brown sauce, without any asian flavours or spices at all. The restaurant didn't charge for this dish after our complaints, so that was in a way handled professionally. Sorry to say, the Good Rice restaurant has very little in common with authentic vietnamese or asian cooking. But if you want food with no flavours brought to the table in record time, it's the...
Read moreI've never wrote a review for a restaurant in my life, but now I feel compelled do it given the extremely disappointing experience we had in this place. We found it by chance and after reading the good reviews decided to try it. We ordered two of the most expensive dishes on the menu (21 and 29 euros) and got two of the blandest meals we've ever had. One consisted of a dried up salmon fillet thrown over overcooked noodles, the other of pieces of unidentifiable meat (allegedly duck) floating in a brown sauce with vegetables. My dish was supposed to have aubergine in it, and there was a thin half slice in the whole plate. When I told the waiter, he simply shrugged and said "it's normal". Then later on he decided to tell the manager right in front of us...the manager's response was to laugh and proceeded to our table to pick up our leftovers with a huge grin in his face. I could have excused the less than average and overpriced food had we been treated with some decency. I find very hard to believe that this place deserves the raving reviews it has especially when I look at the pictures...
Read moreI've done 300+ reviews on Google, and I seldomly give 1-star. Today I made an exception.
I ordered one of the most expensive dishes (Hot Pot Pho), of course, with high expectations. But the broth is simply flavorless and I can only taste a lot of salt!
Then, not sure if it was me or the food, I had to vomit in the middle of my dinner! I then came back to my table, and explained my situation, and asked if I can perhaps get a discount. Eventually, the manager came out, with an extremely unfriendly attitude, asked me what happened. He asked me what went wrong, and tried to blame me if I ate too much during breakfast or lunch. I just said "normal". Last, he said, in a bossy manner, "the meal cost nothing, and you only pay the beer. But do not come back again!"
Frankly, I didn't anticipate to not to pay the meal. A friendly and sincere apologize would have been more than appreciated. But apparently, they had no intention to do it. Of course, I will not come back, lol.
In anyway, this is not the right way to treat your...
