Generally speaking hospitality and service are four stars.
HOWEVER it should be made very clear that only "Deluxe room with Seaview" has the phantastic view and natural sunshine light quality customers are hoping for, not ideal when traveling around half the globe.
My asian partner was rightly very upset, As it's hard to recommend when you imagine you help manage the booking and this happens to your partner, best friend or working colleague 😂
I suggest to let customers know in advance about: Seaview Option, other things they might care.
1F rooms near the elevator are convenient for access to Sauna , Seminar rooms etc, but avoid arriving or changing rooms between 12-2 PM as rooms are being redone.
It will look like you went to the wrong place, with a hallway full of bedsheets etc., not the best impression.
In Germany they count basement, 1F 2F, 3F etc. Keep that in mind, so 1F in Germany would be second floor in foreign countries.
Rooms with a premium Seaview: 1F: 121,122,123,125,126,127,128,129,130 2F: 218, 220-232 3F: 318, 320-332 4F: 401, 406-410
What is amazing is that they have two private Type 2 AC charging spots for visitors with electric cars - at no cost.
Occasionally you might have to ask for amenity stuff like nail cutter, toot brush etc. as it's not readily available in every bath room.
Approach to the hotel via car is only possible via one side, keep that in mind otherwise locals will be releasing their stress by pressing the horn on you or shouting. Also watch for cyclists any time !
The traffic light cycle is long and there is also the train crossing, so be patient as it can take multiple minutes ( I kid you not !) evening time or If your timing is bad.
Wifi speed 5-8 Mbps is not much, perhaps registered reward members or seminar visitors get more speed, not sure.
Make sure to reserve for a sunset spot at dinner time in the restaurant, as even for hotel guests it's not guaranteed to be able to get seated.
Unfortunately there seems to be no waiting list system in place. Instead of keeping potential customers they prefer to send them away by just letting them know that they are full, that's customer service at it's best !
To my surprise , the next evening the restaurant terrace was completely empty, probably because weather was different.
To finish on a high note, the sauna area is very good and not often used. It has a 85©, 45© and a physio sauna ( color light, heat and music) so you can regain or recover quickly when traveling.
Of course there are always paid massage...
Read moreLet me start by outlining that we have been to this hotel quite a number of times the last years. It excels with its position right at the waterfront of Konstanz. The rooms partially offer stunning views of the lake and the terrace was always a nice place to sip a drink or have a good lunch/dinner. That’s about it talking about the positive aspects of this hotel today. Not only you would expect something special looking at the prices they are asking for, they are today not even able to deliver on the basics. Some examples: although we had an upgrade voucher for a Suite this time, the room was rather small, but the biggest problem: it was shabby and dirty. Mold in the bathroom, broken cosmetic mirror, sink not working properly, no single corner of the room you really wanted to have a closer look at, the bed old and tired as well and in miserable optical condition, floor scratched and dirty - the list goes on. The potential jewel, the terrace, is managed badly: breakfast was served by friendly junior staff, but apparently at the beginning of their training and with no supervision, resulting in a load of uncleaned tables, wesps all over the place with jam and honey pots placed along the sides as an attempt to get rid of them, etc - not a place to feel comfy. I stop it here with my personal highlight: on the first evening I received an email from the hotel general manager, asking about my satisfaction. I answered expressing my dissatisfaction and asking for a change of room. I was promptly promised to hear back at short notice - after 2 days I received this morning when checkin out a standard reply with the usual BlaBla. Unfortunately every experience I made during my last 2 days felt like a rip-off. They are apparently milking this place as longs as that works. For us it certainly has been the last visit. Please avoid to be ripped off and choose some other nice places around, like the Riva Hotel or 47 Grad, just to name 2 good alternatives.
I want not to miss to praise the junior staff in training. They are apparently left alone with a rather unpleasant situation and are still trying to do their very best, despite we could witness a couple of situations where there have been criticized harsh by apparently more senior staff. Unfortunately it rather sounded like accuses than training. Guys: it’s because of you that this review is voted with 2 stars instead of...
Read moreWe stayed three nights, and the first night, we were in a bare room on the second floor without any carpets and only one window (not 5 stars at all). Upon complaining with the front desk, we could move to the third floor to a normally decorated room with carpets and colourful curtains and with two windows and a very small balcony.
The sauna installation was broken, one wet sauna was marked as defective, while the dry sauna was supposed to work at 85C but was neither operational. Upon contacting staff, they tried to restart the sauna, but neither did work. We also were to understand that the previous night, this dry sauna also did not work. What about regular checking whether the facilities are operational?
Their bier garden and the Stube were closed. One night, we ate at the Seerestaurant. While the staff was very friendly and accommodating, we were quite disappointed by the food that was presented to us. We are vegetarians. My wife ordered a salad with goat cheese from the menu. The goat cheese was very dry and clearly prepared on a stove that was also used to prepare meat products. We complained, and my wife got some additional feta cheese. In my case, I ordered the asparagus dish that was on the menu this week, but then without the salmon. Instead, I asked for some more asparagus and potatoes. Also, here the chef did not do a good job, about one third of the asparagus were not cooked and hard and raw, especially at the lower 4 - 5 cm. The tops were fine. The only thing that was excellent at this meal was the dessert. Overall, we have a poor impression of this restaurant’s offerings, even more considering the amounts that are being charged. We would not recommend this restaurant.
The breakfast options offered by the hotel was good. Also, we liked the central location on a walkable distance from the town. The hotel building and the courtyard are nice and provide an idea of exclusivity. Now the hotel services need to be brought up to a 5 star...
