(Used to be five stars, had a weird/negative experience.)
Yesterday I went to pay with card. Instead of letting me read my card over the device, the employee tried to take my card and do it himself (he seemed rather impatient). Then he got annoyed that I didn't let him. It was really strange. He started straight up arguing with me, asking for a reason and what not. To be clear, I wasn't refusing to pay; I just wanted to handle my own card, like most people usually do, instead of giving it to him to handle it. I also was not having trouble with the device; he just wouldn't let me use it until I explained myself. (He eventually let me, but not before arguing.)
I feel that a reason was not owed, and that my expressed preference should be enough. It is really not ok to disrespect people's stated boundaries like that, and being in a hurry is not an excuse.
For future reference, I would suggest to just put the device down, or have it in a stand, and let people read their cards over it. It's fine to ask customers to let you handle their card. It's not fine to throw a hissy fit if they say no. This should be fairly obvious kindergarten level stuff but apparently not.
This is much less important, but there was also a weirdly large waiting time for simple pickup (with a fairly full restaurant, but no line for pickup as such). Normally I don't give grief for things like that (some nights are busy, humans are human, etc). But when you let someone wait a long time, you make extra effort to be polite and accommodating when it's their turn. You don't act like their existence is an inconvenience to you and they should be grateful for the honor of your precious time.
(I suspect there was some elitism involved in all this, due to my youthful look and the casual way I was dressed. I will not insist on that because it's a hard thing to prove and may be unconscious. If I'm wrong, great; otherwise, y'all should also be working on fixing that because...
Read moreI liked the selection of seemingly authentic Vietnamese dishes on the menu. It's definitely something different than the usual choice you get in most of Würzburgs Asian restaurants. The Bún (rice noodles) with grilled pork and spring roll was very good. The pork was deliciously marinated and grilled. The spring roll wasn't the usual frozen stuff you get everywhere, it was definitely homemade.
The only negative criticism I have about the food, were the chicken wings I ordered as a starter. Even though the marinade was tasty, the meat was a bit too much on the drier spectrum. Also the portion was too tiny (just 5 wing halves) to justify a pricetag of almost 5€. Overall, the main dishes are also a bit on the pricier side, but their portion sizes are adequate.
Another nice touch was the helpful waitress, who gave us advice how to eat those Vietnamese specialities, so that we enjoyed the food in the way it had to be enjoyed. I also enjoyed the interior design's combination of modern and hip with...
Read moreMadam Nguyen is a Vietnamese restaurant with good food which is easy on the palate. The variety of tastes creates layers of delicious food, pretty much like in Vietnam. The atmosphere in the restaurant is casual. We were there in the evening, it was a bit too dark for me, and I had to switch on my flashlight to read the menu. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but that was okay since it was a Saturday evening with a full house. We all had some version of the bún bowl, and every single one was good. This is authentic cuisine at an affordable price. I recommend booking a table well in advance. Also, be aware that there are three steps leading into the restaurant which may be difficult for wheelchair users to navigate. Overall, a very pleasant evening with solid...
