Nice restaurant with very specific atmosphere, but.... We were visiting this restaurant with 2 friends the last day of March this year. There was nearly no one in the restaurant so the young lady brought the menus very quick. We were searching in the menus for delicious food when the cook came with a "special offering" showing us fresh and very good looking burger buns. I need to say, no one was originally interested to order a hamburger, but the guy was showing really nice arguments so we ordered "special house-made hamburger" with french fries. Couple of minutes later, the waiter came and explained something about problems with a bill, I need to say, I was shooting pictures of the cute railways around so I have not heard the conversation between him and my friends. Couple of minutes later, the three hamburgers arrived on our table. They were really not bad I need to say but far away from being extraordinary. After the meal, the waiter came to tell us that they are closing the restaurant so there is no way to order anything else and we were asked to pay and to go. He came, saying that every one of us should pay 33,10€ for the burger and one dark beer. Me and my friends were in the middle of a conversation so we didn't really paid attention and even more, every one added some "trinkgeld"/tip. After we have left the restaurant we have found out that this was a fail. The most expensive hamburger in the menu was priced with € 18,90, but every one of us has paid 35,-€ so that was the most expensive hamburger in my life. We have not received any bill so it was impossible to complain next day about the price. Need to say, that was quite a disappointment for all of us. A pity. I hope the waiter had a nice evening. We had booked as a group of 18 people for 6.30pm and had submitted a pre order and had notified them of allergies, which they had said would be no problem. By 7.45pm we had not received any of our food despite several conversation with the staff, who either shrugged their shoulders or said that they were busy. When the food eventually came the dairy free person received pasta with cheese on the top and tried to give her ice cream for dessert. No care was taken with the service and some desserts were not delivered. It was a very disappointing night, no apologies were given and no discount offered. I would not recommend...

Wir waren hier im August mit zwei Erwachsenen und zwei Kindern essen. Die Reservierung mit Tisch am Fenster (nur hier fährt die Getränkeeisenbahn), von wo man einen tollen Überblick auf die HarzerSchmalspurBahn hat, funktionierte hervorragend. Die Getränke kamen zügig und originell, gerade für Eisenbahnliebhaber, mit einer Modelleisenbahn. Die Saftschorlen hatten ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis, das Bier war wohl temperiert. Die Vorspeisen, wir hatten Carpaccio vom Rind und Carpaccio vom Wild, waren erstklassig, hauchzart geschnitten, mit frischen, aromatischen Pilzen und einem leckeren Parmesan abgerundet. Der Salat war frisch, super mit Balsamico Essig abgeschmeckt und überlagerte das Carpaccio nicht. Die Hauptspeisen: Das Kinderschnitzel mit Pommes, war das beste Kindergericht, was ich jemals gesehen und probiert habe. Das Schnitzel war frisch zubereitet, also auch parniert, eine schön wellige Parnade. Das Fleisch war richtig saftig und genau auf den Punkt. Die Pommes waren nicht überwürzt, genau für Kinder geeignet. Das Rumpsteak meiner Frau war auf den Punkt medium gegart und auch die Beilagen konnten überzeugen. Mein Rumpsteak war englisch wie gewünscht und auch hier war es neben der sehr guten Qualität auch eine große Menge.

Die Desserts, Schokoküchlein mit flüssigem Kern, Erdbeerparfait und Sahne mundeten hervorragend und rundeten den Abend perfekt ab. Die Rechnung war auch überschaubar und der Leistung, der Qualität und dem Ausblick mehr als gerecht geworden.

Wenn es etwas zu kritisieren gab, dann überhaupt nur, dass man zum Ende hin gebeten wurde, vielleicht zu gehen, da man den Tisch gerne nochmals besetzen würde. Ein Tisch für vier Personen, mit drei Gängen, wovon das Dessert aufgrund des frischen Küchleins eine halbe Stunde Wartezeit mitbrachte, verlangt diese Aufmerksamkeit und keine Hektik. Wir kommen gerne wieder und werden das Restaurant immer gerne...
