Wernigerode Garden of India — Restaurant in Wernigerode

Yesterday, we had an amazing dinner at Wernigerode Garden of India! The restaurant is managed by a very sweet punjabi couple from India and the food is just amazing. Apart from the great food, we shared a lot of laughs and talks with the restaurant owner and his wife. We loved the beautiful ambience of the restaurant. It is very tastefully decorated. Everything reminded us of the great Indian culture and the great Indian hospitality. And yes, if you are from India and you know Hindi, talk to the owners in Hindi as they would just love it!! (obviously you can also talk to them in German, English or Punjabi ;), ask them for suggestions or any tips. They are very helpful and sweet!) Das Restaurant ist etwas versteckt in einem Hinterhof. Da am Dienstag viele Restaurants in der Innenstadt geschlossen sind, dachte ich, ich probiere es mal aus.

Das Positive vorweg: Das Ambiente ist sehr nett, rustikal. Bevor das Essen serviert wird, kann man sich an der Salatbar bedienen (jedoch relativ übersichtliche Auswahl). Der Teller war vorgewärmt, die Bedienung freundlich. Die Hauptspeise war optisch schön angerichtet. Es gab auch einen kleinen Aperitif auf's Haus.

Nun leider das Negative: Für einen Preis von 18€ erwarte ich etwas mehr Qualität, als das, was serviert wurde. Ich habe einen Tandoori-Grill-Teller bestellt, dir Nr. 756 "Udta Panchi". Das Fleisch wird angeblich 24 Stunden mariniert. Leider schmeckt es nicht danach, und ich vermute, dass es sich um Tiefkühlprodukte handelt, so wie beim Gemüse. Ich habe oft Fleischgerichte vom Tandoori-Grill gegessen, weshalb ich hier komplett die Röstaromen vermisst habe. Überhaupt war geschmacklich alles eher flach, leicht säuerlich. Ich konnte geschmacklich auch nicht mehr erkennen, was für ein Tier ich gegessen haben soll. Eines der Fleischstücke hatte seltsam, nicht wirklich genießbar, geschmeckt, konnte es aber auch nicht weiter definieren. Ich habe die "feinen" Gewürze vermisst. Die "pikante" hausgemachte Soße schmeckt nur nach einer leicht gewürzten Tomatensoße aus der Dose, und überhaupt nicht pikant. Das Gemüse schmeckte ebenfalls nach TK-Ware. Insgesamt leider ein enttäuschendes Erlebnis. Da kenne ich wesentlich bessere indische Restaurants, wo man für sein Geld bessere Qualität erhält. Überhaupt frage ich mich im Nachhinein, was an diesem Essen indisch geschmeckt haben soll.

Fazit: Ich kann dieses Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen. In Wernigerode gibt es bessere Alternativen hierzu. Zwei Sterne gebe ich noch, weil das Auge mit isst, und ansonsten das Ambiente angenehm war. Mein persönlicher Eindruck ist auch, dass die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass ein Restaurant mit guten, frischen Produkten kocht sinkt, je größer die...
