We were searching for an authentic Latin restaurant in Wiesbaden and looked around. We decided to go to Cafe de Colombia. Latin place, Latin people, and Latin music, so it was a good first impression. The place is quite small and I mean not many seats. The waiting times for everything were long. First to get a seat, then getting the menu, taking the order, getting the entries, and so on. The place was not packed in my opinion, but still long waiting times for everything. We needed to reorder 2 things since they forgot that we ordered them already. Also no coasters or napkins without asking for it. Everyone was nice and we had a good talk, but sometimes just trying is not good enough.
The food was ok. We think It needed more spices of everything and we ordered a spicy sauce extra to spice it up, but it was just Tabasco and water. Overall the food was lagging.

Atmosphere: The ambiance was great. The server lit a candle at my table. I sat by the window and enjoyed the vibe. Great music playing. I often danced in my seat. The art on the wall is great Colombian photography!

On to food, I am not Colombian so I’ve never had Colombian food IN Colombia but from Florida with a ton of authentic Colombian restaurants I can tell you this was rather lower middle ground. The starters were good but the bandeja paisa was far from what’s meant to be. Wrong rice, beans, meats. At the beginning we felt he was pushing us towards choosing menu items that were available to him but not all the options on menu seemed to be. Perhaps the location doesn’t help with obtaining ingredients so I’ll cut slack on that but that being said no maduros?...
