Amalfi — Restaurant in Wuppertal

It was a first time visit and it was worth it.

Amalfi the restaurants name is based on the pictorial Italien coastline and eponymous town of Amalfi, which is located in the region of Campania. The capitol of Campania is Naples, which is more or less the birthplace of modern day pizza. So if you want to experience authentic pizza, visit Naples or Campania respectively visit someone who has learned his craftsmanship there. I had the pleasure to visit Naples and the region of Campania multiple times, enjoyed many, many pizza pies there, so I can certainly estimate if the pizza is somewhat authentic

This owner-managed restaurant serves definitely authentic Italian and especially original Neapolitan pizza. The pizza has a highrised crust at the edge and a thin crumb with a perfect chewiness of the dough. The tomato sauce is rich, savory and full of flavor. Depending on which variant you choose, you will get Fior Di Latte, Buffalo Mozzarella or Bufalla and a variety of other toppings; all fresh and all incredibly delicious.

Also the antipasti and dulce are really good and the service staff is incredibly hospitable, friendly and knowledgeable. They are more then glad to help you.

So if you want an authentic Italian lunch/dinner look no more and go check this place out.

A clear recommendation...

Wir hatten uns passend zum warmen Sommerwetter Salat bestellt. Mit Gambas und Parmesan. Enttäuschend was wir bekommen haben: Bowl mit Eisberg und labbrigem LolloRosse, ein Scheibchen Radieschen, eine Cocktailtomate und eine peplose Sauce.... ich hatte noch einen Rucolastengel vergessen!! Wir haben angefangen zu essen, aber das Grünzeug wurde auch nicht besser, nachdem wir mit Öl und Salz etc nachwürzten. Wir haben es kurzum dem Kellner gesagt. Er entschuldigte sich und wollte neuen Salat bringen, der in unserer Bowl wäre ja wirklich nicht so toll (!?). Bloß nicht!!! Dann räumte er ab und ließ sich nicht mehr an unserem Tisch blicken. Ich erwarte, wenn man auf gehobenen Italiener macht, dass der Service sich mit einem Espresso einer Preisreduzierung, ein Entgegenkommen irgengeiner Art, außer noch mehr Blätter zu bringen, erkenntlich zeigt. Nichts. Schade. Eine schlechte Küche könnte von gutem Personal kompensiert werden. Könnte. Warum wird immer am Personal gespart? Ein Bier raustragen, macht noch keinen Kellner. Es war mein zweiter Versuch dort. Beim Ersten wurde man insofern gar nicht bedient, als dass wir zwar eine Karte bekamen und einen Getränkewunsch äußern durften, der Kellner sich dann aber nicht mehr blicken lies... nach 10 Minuten des Wartens, gingen wir nach "nebenan". Meine Bewertung zielt auf Personaleinsatz, Servicequalität, Wartezeit, Umgang mit Kritik und...

Had a quick dinner and a great experience. Staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable, even got a little appetizer on the house before my pizza arrived and I could tell from just the bread alone that the main dish would not disappoint.
