Citrus Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Accra

This is a nice place. Good ambience, tastefully decorated, nice location, ample parking. BUT it would be wise to manage your expectations. Just because they serve Fish & Chips doesn't mean it's the fish fillet that you're accustomed to elsewhere in the world. And just because they have beef burger in the menu doesn't mean they have it in stock. I don't know about the chicken burger but all beef burgers were unavailable. Other items on the menu were also out...they didn't have bacon so anything that's supposed to come with bacon (eg. Bacon and cheese fries) was not available.

Be prepared for a long wait too. The resto wasn't full (1/3 of capacity) for Sunday dinner but it took about 45mins for the food to arrive. Our server told us that paella takes 40mins to prepare but she gave this warning after already waiting 40mins. Fortunately for us, I know how to cook paella so I know how long it takes. However, had we been clueless about it, it would've been better if she warned us from the time we placed our order. Even the simple fried rice (that didn't come with a long-prep warning) arrived after the paella.

This was my second time here and my experience was a tad better than the first. This time around, Nana Kwame, our waiter was attentive and visited a couple of times to check up. The general aesthetic of Citrus is picture-perfect (both the indoor area and small outdoor porch area). My friend and I ordered the platter(GHS130) and a side of burger/egg fried-rice. Even though we went in famished, we couldn’t finish our meal and had to get it to-go(additional 5 cedis for the packing bag). The meal was surprisingly delicious 🤤 and well-spiced. I don’t know if the platter was worth the price, in terms of portions, but it definitely did taste good.

In terms of covid protection, seating is generally well-spaced and sanitizers are provided at the entrance.

Citrus Lounge has a wonderful atmosphere and an exceptional service. I remember on my recent visit there, I was battling with allergies and anything spurred off coughs so my friends and I decided to go sit outside. I took a bathroom break but before I did, I requested for water, not stating specifically whether I wanted cold or hot. When I came back I saw that everyone had cold water except me so I thanked my friends for being thoughtful but they said they weren’t the ones that requested my water to be room temperature. Apparently during my visit to the bathroom, this server came back to the table to ask my friends if I would prefer room temperature water because of my cough and the rest was history.
