Unfortunately our experience was bad..We arrived at the restaurant without having a reservation (our mistake) and we saw some empty tables. A young man came out and asked if we had a reservation, we said no and then an italian lady came out, talked to him and told us to come back in 20 minutes. So we made a long walk and came back in 20 minutes. Indeed there was an extra empty table from some people that had just finished their meal and left and the guy from earlier seated us there. We stayed there at the table with the plates of the previous people for about 10 minutes before the same guy appeared and told us the kitchen cannot serve us so we have to leave. I would have accepted the first time we came by, if they told us there is simply no empty table and make a recommendation to us to book a table for the next day but to seat us and then tell us to leave in front of the people waiting for a table outside the front door? It made us feel unwelcome and a burden. However i will put 3 stars because i saw how many people waited outside the second time we were there so i guess it must have great dishes. Too bad we didn't have the chance...
Read moreInitially, nothing here reminds you of a restaurant, which is not a bad thing... At first we were sent away, but then we were able to stay. Starters: Salad with tuna ..ok, dressing average, you couldn't do much wrong here. Starters of salami and cheese...of course you don't have to know how to cook for this, it was ok...and now comes the highlight! During the preparation I looked into the kitchen and behold, they cook with Barilla here... I can do that at home too. The chef insisted that he was Italian and that he could cook really well. I can buy Barilla in the supermarket up the road and make it myself... Cheeky. 3 different pasta dishes and each one tasted the same. Furthermore, the food was cold... the chef says: That's how you eat in Italy. I have often eaten in Italy and my pasta was warm. Very arrogant and unable to take criticism... The people who rate good here have never eaten well. Stay away, there are so many good tavernas. Why Italian on Alonissos and...

As much as we absolutely love traditional Greek cuisine tonight we fancied a change and glad we chose Bacco Island Italian Restaurant and Deli.
We spoke with the owners son, who told us that the family fell in love with Alonnisos (who could blame them) and decided to move from Florence Italy to this magical island.
In doing so they have opened a delicatessen stocking traditional food imported (at great expense) from Italy and a restaurant using the same traditional Italian ingredients, loving crafted into delicious food.
I highly recommend the ricotta and spinach ravioli.
My only gripe is we couldn't buy a traditional Greek Wine to compliment our Italian food but glad we bought the lovely Italian Pinot Grigio.
As a note to the Bacco Island owners, I'd love to see the best Greek local wines paired with your lovely Italian food for a unique Geek...
