In the heart of Argostoli, on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, lies the family-run restaurant “Captain’s Table,” which captivates with its stylish atmosphere and breathtaking view of the sea. Upon entering the restaurant, I was warmly welcomed by the extremely friendly and attentive staff. The team’s attention to detail and dedication were evident from the very beginning. As a seafood lover, I was especially excited to try the “Grilled Octopus” with yellow split peas, fresh onion, caper pesto, and a salad of Valerian and arugula. And I have to say: it was the best octopus I have ever eaten – and I’ve tried many! Tender, perfectly grilled, and with an explosion of flavors that truly impressed me. The dishes my companions ordered, such as the “Fresh Seabream” and “Cod Fish,” were also of the highest quality and prepared with the same care and love. The food at “Captain’s Table” is not only incredibly delicious but also beautifully presented – a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience in Argostoli should not miss this restaurant! And to top it all off, a very delicious dessert! Wow!

Food is decent - got the graviela cheese, sea bass carpaccio, the vegetarian moussaka, and a ginger lemonade. We wanted to get the fried anchovies but they were out. The service, however, was pretty awful. When the waiter came to take our order, we started placing it and then he sort of spaced out, looking into the distance and not saying anything. I paused ordering, thinking something may have happened and he might need a moment. He eventually looked back at us, annoyed. I asked if he got what I said already or if I should repeat it and he read back what I said. So I ordered the final item and he left. A few minutes later, a waitress brought us grape leaves. We said we didn’t order them so she left, confused. The waiter came back with them, pointing to them and saying we ordered them. We insisted we hadn’t and went through our order again. He got annoyed and left with the grape leaves. To top it all off, when we finished eating, a waiter came to clear the table and seemed to want to take my lemonade even though I had about 1/4 left. He also seemed annoyed when I said I wasn’t finished with it yet. And it wasn’t a full restaurant with people waiting or just about to close. It was a late lunch with maybe 40% of the tables occupied. Ultimately, food was good but not worth going out of the way for and service was rude enough to not be worth it.

The Captain's Table in Kefalonia offers an outstanding dining experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff, who made us feel right at home. We began our meal with the feta in filo pastry with honey, and it was absolutely delightful. The combination of the crispy filo, creamy feta, and sweet honey was perfect and set the tone for the rest of our meal. For the main course, we chose the beef patties and the chicken patties, and both dishes were lovely. The beef patties were flavorful and juicy, while the chicken patties were tender and well-seasoned. Each bite was a testament to the quality and care put into the food. The atmosphere at The Captain's Table was charming and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were attentive and ensured that we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Overall, The Captain's Table provided us with a memorable dining experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kefalonia. The combination of great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot!

Let me first start with an apology to the Captains Table. The review I originally left wasn't for them. It has now been removed. We stopped off for a quick bite to eat before heading back to our hotel, and we're so glad we did. The place is clean tidy and very well presented. The food was delicious too. What caught our eye first about this place was the menu board that said "Married Sardines". This made us chuckle, so when we thought about eating The Captains Table sprang to mind (forgot to ask what Married Sardines were)! The restaurant is on the main road opposite the harbour, so there are views of a couple of nice boats. Overall we cannot find a fault here. Prices are what you'd expect for this type of restaurant and they allow slight deviations of the menu. I had wedges rather than the mash.

Great. Having stayed at Fidias Rooms just atop the restaurant, we did have the privilege of being served breakfast — if that wasn’t enough, we came back for dinner too as the food was lovely and the service super friendly. The fried chicken fillet not only was soft and tender, but also had a pinch of salty and bitter taste from the olive oil and sea salt they use as sauce when serving it. That makes for a lovely sensation to your taste buds, just what you’d like it to be. The Greek salad was excellent, with the Feta cheese served with the same deep green and slightly bitter, high quality olive oil. All of the breakfast dishes we had were excellent, with the fresh orange juice rounding it off nicely. Service was outstanding, and the atmosphere in overlooking the port just lovely.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the mistake waiter made when he was giving us our final bill as he added some things we did not have during our dinner. I am quite sure it was by accident as we saw how busy they were while serving all the guests and the restaurant was super full. Never the less, these things should not happen in the restaurant with such quality food. Now to the food. It was stunning and extremely delicious. Everything we tried was made to perfection and I would recommend this restaurant to all the people I know because it is definitely worth visiting.
