Food is decent - got the graviela cheese, sea bass carpaccio, the vegetarian moussaka, and a ginger lemonade. We wanted to get the fried anchovies but they were out. The service, however, was pretty awful. When the waiter came to take our order, we started placing it and then he sort of spaced out, looking into the distance and not saying anything. I paused ordering, thinking something may have happened and he might need a moment. He eventually looked back at us, annoyed. I asked if he got what I said already or if I should repeat it and he read back what I said. So I ordered the final item and he left. A few minutes later, a waitress brought us grape leaves. We said we didn’t order them so she left, confused. The waiter came back with them, pointing to them and saying we ordered them. We insisted we hadn’t and went through our order again. He got annoyed and left with the grape leaves. To top it all off, when we finished eating, a waiter came to clear the table and seemed to want to take my lemonade even though I had about 1/4 left. He also seemed annoyed when I said I wasn’t finished with it yet. And it wasn’t a full restaurant with people waiting or just about to close. It was a late lunch with maybe 40% of the tables occupied. Ultimately, food was good but not worth going out of the way for and service was rude enough to not be worth it.

Coming here, I was enticed from the atmosphere the cafe had. It looks modern, has nice view, and the list goes on. Everything was nice and clean, and we decided to sit and enjoy a morning coffee, as well as something sweet. So, the price for the coffee was the average one you find in Greece, it was good coffee as well. But then it came down to the dessert. We ordered Greek Orange Pie, also known as Portokalopita and a Banoffee. As a greek tourist, who has travelled all around Greece and has a very good understanding of prices across places, I have to admit the price-quantity ratio was very disappointing. For the Banoffee, apart from the rather high price tag, not only was the quantity small, but it was also not fresh, that much was obvious. The price for the Portokalopita was a little pricey but not too bad, but here came the bad part, the size of the piece we were given was quite the shock, seen in the picture below compared to a teaspoon, you can understand the size. The taste was average, and in general it was quite the let down. Other than that service was quick, and everything was above average. I wouldn't recommend it though, if you care about getting your money's worth.

In the heart of Argostoli, on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, lies the family-run restaurant “Captain’s Table,” which captivates with its stylish atmosphere and breathtaking view of the sea. Upon entering the restaurant, I was warmly welcomed by the extremely friendly and attentive staff. The team’s attention to detail and dedication were evident from the very beginning. As a seafood lover, I was especially excited to try the “Grilled Octopus” with yellow split peas, fresh onion, caper pesto, and a salad of Valerian and arugula. And I have to say: it was the best octopus I have ever eaten – and I’ve tried many! Tender, perfectly grilled, and with an explosion of flavors that truly impressed me. The dishes my companions ordered, such as the “Fresh Seabream” and “Cod Fish,” were also of the highest quality and prepared with the same care and love. The food at “Captain’s Table” is not only incredibly delicious but also beautifully presented – a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience in Argostoli should not miss this restaurant! And to top it all off, a very delicious dessert! Wow!

Really wanted to try here as had enough of the usual Greek dishes and needed a change and fancied a steak (read a previous review which said this place is good for it)

From the moment we went in we just didn’t feel as welcome as we have done at other places. We went early also - around 6pm. The guy with longer hair was serving us and we found him really abrupt and a bit rude tbh. We ordered drinks and we asked twice for a baby chair. A couple after us who I could tell were local were given one and they weren’t there as long as us. Finally my wife had to get up and ask for one. When it came it wasn’t clean so we wiped it clean ourselves. Starters of cheese donuts were nice and the toddlers chicken nuggets were very good so well done on that. However when it came to ordering with the longer haired guy it wasn’t very nice. My wife ordered meat pie, my daughter went for salmon and I wanted the most expensive item - the T-Bone. I asked him twice what does it come with as on the menu it just says t-bone that’s it and all I got was a a bit of a grunt back. So I asked again, does it come with chips or anything like mushroom or tomato? On the menu it does say underneath like out of 4 items they recommend choosing a side but usually with any steak anywhere you get at least chips or a side garnish with it?? So I asked for chips and some veggies and do they do peppercorn sauce? Just got a ‘Yes,Yes’ but in a rude kinda brush off way so it was a bit of a game of roulette of a what was coming lol I think he sensed I wasn’t happy with way he treated me so he started trying to be nice with our toddler. His English was fine so was no issues in terms of understanding each other. My wife said the pie wasn’t great and left half of that. The salmon wasn’t too bad for my daughter and my t-bone was also not bad but have had better. Just the service from that guy put a downer on our meal and we left without a dessert and just bought some local shop ice cream to save us the hassle of being served without a smile or care.

Lot more options around the square in terms of food choices and no doubt...

Based on my experience.....don’t bother eating here. Looks the part but unfortunately the service and the food don’t match it’s appearance. The waiter who brought over the menus was very polite but the same cannot be said for the one who took the order.

Drinks arrived fairly promptly but our food didn’t. At least 30-45 minutes for two burgers. In the end we had prompt them- we think our order had actually been forgotten. A cheeseburger and a ‘veggie ‘ burger eventually appeared.

Well....what can I say. Not particularly well presented, didn’t look that appealing either. A small stack of thick cut fries accompanied each. On closer inspection, the ‘veggie’ burger didn’t actually contain a burger of any kind. It was a burger bun filled with salad and vegetables! Albeit they looked fresh, it was taken back immediately. If it had been served correctly, I’m sure it would have tasted great. The reason given, why it didn’t contain a burger was because they’d run out so they thought they’d fill it with salad and vegetables instead! I have never heard anything like it. Not acceptable especially considering the wide variety of vegetarian/vegan burgers widely available nowadays. The choice has never been so good.

Therefore why the heck didn’t you tell us you’d ran out when we ordered?! Could have been sorted and something else picked in its place. We obviously didn’t pay for it but I wonder if it had of been eaten, would you have still charged us full price for it knowing full well that we hadn’t received what we ordered? I know where my money is at 🤔.

It’s a real shame that they let themselves down so badly on this. After reading some of the other reviews they seem to usually do a good job. Disappointed that for some reason we didn’t experience this. Definitely won’t be returning. Sort it out....I’m sure you...

We were looking forward to going here because of the good reviews. It was busy but we were able to get a table in the restaurant.

Unfortunately once we were seated it was like they forgot about us, we sat there for ages waiting to just get the menus. Once we finally got them, it was another long wait for them to take our order.

Starters arrived quickly but they got our order wrong and brought out something extra by accident. We decided we would keep it and pay for it as it looked good. Starters (bruschetta and a fried cheese were both very enjoyable).

When the mains came, the Caesar salad was great & tasty. When given the Mediterranean pasta I was told they didn’t have the cheese and olives to go in it so asked me if I’d like Parmesan or feta instead. I wasn’t overly pleased as it wasn’t what I ordered. I went for feta, instead of bringing it out warmed or going and adding it to my plate, the waiter just brought out a whole lump of cold feta on a side plate. The meal was totally bland & so I shared my partners salad instead.

I told the staff when I finally got their attention and they tried to offer us something else but by then, we just wanted to pay up and leave. They were okay about us not paying for the main when we said the food wasn’t good. They also offered a desert at the end but we declined.

Overall, very poor service from the start, some good & tasty food, some not. I would only consider going again if it was a lot quieter in the hope of...
