Retseto — Restaurant in Argostoli Municipality

Bad from start to finish. My drink arrived with lipstick marks all around the glass rim, brought it to a waitress attention and she questioned me was it my own lipstick (clearly wasn’t wearing any and the drink was untouched/ full to the brim). Waited over 30 minutes for staff to take the food order and received the food 1hr 15 minutes later. Overpriced, small portions and food had hot spots within (we think our order had been forgotten to be brought out and was microwaved to reheat). Wrong sides had been added to one plate and none on another. Kefalonia pie was burnt. No offers from any staff to refill drinks. Had to go to the till area to get the bill as could not attract the attention of any staff to come to the table. Certainly wasn’t going to leave them any tip, however they added their own service charge anyway!!! This didn’t appear to be common practice in other Lassi restaurants we had visited. Retseto was recommended to me by some ladies at the pool of the hotel Mediterranee. We went there for my dad’s 60th birthday. We booked on the day and were able to get a lovely table for 10 people near a window on the day. The lady who owns it is very sweet and accommodating. She asked about the family and remembered my parents from their visit a few years ago. The food was superb. I had lamb kleftiko which was very tender and had lots of veggies and we tried the garlic and mashed potato dish which was amazing! As a nice thing, the wonder arranged for dad to have a baklava with a sparkler and everyone sang happy birthday to him which was a lovely touch. The only negative was it was very hot as there was a lack of air con. They did put the fan on when we asked to be fair but it wasn’t as airy as some other restaurants we have been to. For a heavily touristy area, Retseto keeps the standards high. It has great views of the sea, albeit hidden a bit by hotel Mediteranée. The speed of service is very good, and the serving staff very friendly, genuine, and engaging. The quality of the dishes is well made with much more attention to detail than other eating establishments in Lassi. You will definitely find something you like from their large menu. It should be stayed that they are also very much children friendly which should be a real feather in their cap. They have plenty of childrens' seats available BUT also have baby changing facilities that are very good! You do not find this easily in Greece, which is something rather infuriating.
