After visiting the Acropolis and dropping friends off at the Panathenaic Stadium, my husband needed A/C and I needed coffee. We found Kekkos. Kekkos is a quaint neighborhood pastry shop two blocks away from the stadium offering Greek and American savory and sweet treats, coffee, and cocktails. It has an adorable patio for catching up with friends and the indoor eating space has plenty of outlets for a working lunch.

We ordered watermelon, donut, egg bagel, tart, and a double expresso. The meal also came with madeleines. My husband and I are self-proclaimed donut connoisseurs, so we were curious to try the Greek interpretation. I liked the dough, but the crust lacked freshness. The watermelon was just okay. My husband enjoyed his egg and cheese bagel. The bagel had a nice crisp and the egg was well prepared. Our tart was another highlight, as we enjoyed the flaky crust and the jellies on top. The madeleines were solid.

Our table neighbors had a great looking Greek salad and...

Food tastes like a Greek grandmother makes it because she does, literally. The owner's mother makes a majority of the food in the back and it is so delicious. I got the orange (with real oranges) chicken and rice and my wife got a turkey sandwich with lemonade. Meal came with water, half a loaf of perfect bread, and 3 cookies for dessert.

Rice was perfect doneness, chicken was sweet, sandwich tasted like a real deli sandwich - not the amateur kind you eat at home. This food was the real deal.

Staff was incredibly kind and thankful. They all spoke English and when I went to pay we chatted and joked around. Amazing people.

As we left our waitress brought us out 2 sweets for free. They tasted like the best Ho-Hos you've ever had. Incredible.

Total bill was only 12.70 euro! We were stuffed and are already planning...

As American tourists on the last leg of our honeymoon, the great food and friendly service at this corner bakery was a pleasant surprise! We didn’t expect to have such a great lunch followed by Greek-Styled Espresso Drinks, butter cookies, and mini ice cream cones! Our server recommended the Pasta and Eggplant which was delicious and the Chicken and potatoes which was prepared stuffed with ham and peppers and slowly roasted in oil and butter. I’ve never had a chicken meal prepared in this manner but I am Hooked! What a great start to our only day here in Athens. The location is perfect for those on the way to the Parthenon. The shop also has a variety of cookies and other sweet treats which look amazing, and they offer free WiFi for customers. Thank you for such a...
