Read moreδημιουργία του Άλσους ξεκίνησε το 1908, όταν η Πριγκίπισσα Σοφία, με τη βοήθεια της Φιλοδασικής Εταιρείας, φύτεψε πεύκα στην περιοχή. Το 1936, η Φιλοδασική Εταιρεία παραχώρησε την έκταση στον Δήμο Αθηναίων, ο οποίος προχώρησε σε ανάπλαση του χώρου, δημιουργώντας παρτέρια, λίμνες με πάπιες και εγκαθιστώντας ζώα όπως περιστέρια, πέρδικες και παγώνια. Μάλιστα, λειτούργησε και ζωολογικός κήπος μέχρι την περίοδο της γερμανικής κατοχής, όταν καταστράφηκε.
Το 1950, στο Άλσος λειτούργησε το θέατρο «Άλσος», το οποίο παρέμεινε ενεργό μέχρι το 1974, όταν καταστράφηκε από φωτιά. Για πολλές δεκαετίες, το Άλσος αποτελούσε πόλο έλξης για τους κατοίκους του Παγκρατίου, προσφέροντας διάφορες ψυχαγωγικές δραστηριότητες.
Σήμερα, το Άλσος Παγκρατίου εκτείνεται σε 30 στρέμματα και βρίσκεται μεταξύ των οδών Ευτυχίδου και Σπύρου Μερκούρη.
