Frankie — Restaurant in Athens

Had a really pleasant and relaxing experience last night, along with really good food. The waiters were helpful and suggestive when asked. Good guys who really do care about your dining experience. However, I asked for a recommendation of a beer as I had had a poor beer not too long prior, and one bottle (700ml) cost me 16 euros. I wondered why they put the bottle in a wine cooler at our table? I could have been warned or I should have asked, but I was a little surprised when I received the bill. My son (18) and I ordered 3x desserts because we had been really good all holiday and are due to go back home to the UK tomorrow. Perhaps I am naive but I didn't know the Basque cheesecake is actually a baked cheesecake, and not what I was expecting. I had no idea what it meant but the tiramasu was exceptional. An important matter to close with; they make EVERYTHING themselves from scratch and you can tell! The pasta melted in your mouth and the pizza dough was made that afternoon. We got two appetizers, two mains, and a bottle of wine. For appetizers, we got a margherita pizza and an assortment of mushrooms, both of which were nice; not exceptional, but definitely nice given the relatively low price.

Regarding my main, I got the Fiorentina steak. It is listed as 600g, but that was obviously not the case. It was a rather thin piece of meat and it would be obvious to any regular meat eater that it wasn't a particular good piece of meat. I don't mind paying a premium for food, however with steaks, because of the relative ease with which they are prepared (unless they are in-house dry-aged), you would expect either (and usually both) a really fine piece of meat, or a rather large portion. As stated, the portion wasn't large (and the steak was very think, which is a shame on its own), and wasn't tender or particularly tasty either.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Frankie’s, and I can confidently say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal.

I ordered the spaghetti bolognese, and it was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portion was generous, and the pasta was cooked just right. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to come back again and again.

The service was also excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It really added a personal touch to the meal.

One of the best parts? The prices. For the quality of food and service you get, it’s an excellent value. It’s not easy to find a place where both the taste and the price leave you satisfied, but Frankie’s nails it.
