Tavern "O Mitsos" — Restaurant in Kassandra Municipality

Reading some of the other reviews we wanted to give this place the benefit of a doubt.

We came here and we're looking for a waiter. No one was there and we had to ask at the back side if they were open in the first place. This was around 8:30 PM, a time when all the restaurants are quite busy. This place on the other hand was completely empty.

We find our waiter and he is helpful but grumpy. We order a greek salad two appetizers, a grilled chicken breast and the green beans.

The Greek salad was one of the most bland salads I have ever had. The tomatoes tasted like the ones we usually have in the Netherlands, no taste whatsoever. The same with the cucumber.

The two appetizers as well as the green beans were very tasty. That's why we would recommend the traditional "home cooking" dishes.

Το μερος ειναι υποτιμημενο . Ισως γιατι τα διπλανα εστιατορια ειναι ακριβως πανω στο κυμα , ενω το συγκεκριμενο πανω απο τον δρομο , αλλα παρ'ολα αυτα υπερυψωμενο και με ωραια θεα . Επισης η βεραντα ειναι μεγαλη με τα τραπεζια αραια τοποθετημενα και αυτο ισως κανει τον χωρο να δειχνει λιγο πιο " κρυο " . Αυτα ομως ειναι υποκειμενικα . Οταν φθασαμε ημασταν οι μοναδικοι πελατες οποτε η εξυπηρετηση ηταν ταχυτατη . Παραγγειλαμε χορτα ( πολυ ωραια βρασμενα ) , τηγανητες πατατες ( εφοσον δεν υπαρχουν σαν συνοδευτικο στο κυριως πιατο ) ενα πιατο που μας προτειναν που ηταν τηγανητες μελιτζανες και πιπεριες με κοκκινη σαλτσα ωραια μαγειρεμενες , καλαμαρακια τηγανητα και καλαμαρακια ψητα εξισου ωραια τηγανισμενα και ψημενα . Πληρωσαμε 48€ , φυσιολογικη τιμη για τετοιου ειδους φαγητο και τοποθεσια , ικανοποιητικη για 2 ατομα . Σε γενικες γραμμες μειναμε ευχαριστημενοι απο την ολη εμπειρια . Επισης συγχαρητηρια για τις πεντακαθαρες τουαλετες .

The place is underrated. Maybe because the neighboring restaurants are right above the wave, while the specific one is above the road, but in spite of that, elevated and with a nice view. Also, the veranda is large with the tables sparsely placed and this perhaps makes the place look a little more "cold". However, these are subjective. When we arrived we were the only customers so the service was very fast. We ordered boiled greens (very nicely cooked), fried potatoes (as long as they are not included as a standard in the main dish) a dish that was suggested to us which was fried eggplants and peppers with red sauce nicely cooked, fried calamari and grilled calamari equally nice fried and baked. the dishes are super delicious, fresh and high quality. the vegetables are very fresh and tasty and the fries are cut by them. everything that is deep fried, has been deep fried in fresh oil which is very rare compared to other tourist taverns. the hospitality of the family who run the business is at another level. we will come back for sure. had a very nice time. thank you for...
