During our 10-day vacation 8 years ago, we had dinner here every night. The staff back then were very friendly and welcoming. We felt like we were at home.

When we returned in August 2024, the place had changed. My wife, daughter, and I made a reservation for three people. When we sat down, we noticed there was a mechanical issue with the table—it was wobbly. The water bottle couldn't even stand upright on the table. A waiter came to take our order, and we informed him of the issue. He responded rudely, saying, "Place your order first, and we will look at the table problem later." We agreed and opened the menu to choose our meal, but the waiter started grumbling. I asked if there was a problem, and he replied, "No, but I need to take your order now," then rudely asked, "Did you have a reservation?" even though he knew all the tables were reserved, as they didn’t accept anyone without one. He said this just to make us feel uncomfortable. We confirmed that we had a reservation but told him, unfortunately, we couldn't stay any longer and left the restaurant with my wife and daughter. We didn’t even drink a glass of water, let alone have a meal. Therefore, my review is not about the food, but about the service.

+++For the Restaurant Owner's answer: I had mentioned to you that during our holiday 8 years ago, we came to your restaurant every day for 10 days. We were happy all evenings. But now, Why would I write these things if there was no issue? We came to your restaurant that evening very happy. I think your most senior employee, whose name starts with K, you can ask him to us. He recognized us from 8 years ago. I was very happy to see him. Until your other waiter came to our table. Did you ask him? Why would a customer who arrived happy leave upset? I recommend you listen to the situation objectively from your waiter.

Also, when we left your restaurant, it was 10:00 PM, and since our daughter was hungry. I had to stay with her at another restaurant. That’s why my wife had to come alone to explain the situation to you. Yes, she asked for a Turkish-speaking waiter because her English isn’t good. She was very upset by the situation and wanted to explain it in Turkish to ensure nothing was left out.

So, is the issue that my wife asked for a Turkish-speaking waiter? or is it about how poorly your waiter treated your guests?..Two unrelated cases. ???

Unfortunately, you can't even offer a...

Reminded Me of Capri - On our first trip to Afitos and being hungry after wandering around the lovely village, we found our way to a gorgeous avenue of cliff top restaurants with stunning views across the sea. The restaurants are next to one another and before we could look at a menu we were jumped on by a waiter each telling us theirs was the best restaurant. This put us off so we kept walking and thankfully the very last restaurant looked fantastic and as we approached a waiter politely offered a menu and without having to say a word we were hooked!!

We sat at a table along the cliff wall with picture perfect views when we could take our eyes off the menu, which offered a good range of starters mains including day fresh fish and seafood. Our freshly steamed mussels starter was delicious and the whole red snapper perfectly cooked and delicious, accompanied well by a glass or three of dry house wine.

We came to pay the bill and they literally sweetened the price with an absolutely fantastic chocolatey dessert which was profiteroles, on top of crème anglais all covered in melted chocolate! Heaven!!

Not that they needed to do that, the cost for two including drinks was £100 which is way less than we would have paid back in England for the same meal and we chose one of the most expensive main dishes on the menu, so we could have easily enjoyed a wonderful meal at a much lower cost if we weren’t wanting to splash out.

Everything about the meal was perfect, the restaurant itself is very tasteful, the food and service couldn’t be better and the location just stunning.

The best compliment I can give is It reminded me of Capri. Treat Yourself.

……Just as Good a Second Time- 23 July 2023 we decided to go back for our last romantic meal of our holiday and it was just as good. We were welcomed back as returning friends and looked after us well all evening. We’ll remember for a very long time being sat beneath the olive tree looking out across the sea while feasting on such great food and wine! We didn’t go for the fresh fish of the day this time and the bill was 80 Euros which was good value for food and...

This used to an old time favor. I ve been there many times in the past. I will never forget the amazing koutsoumoures, a type of red mullet fish I had almost 10 yrs ago and I always return for that same quality of product and service. Not the case any more. Fried fish wasn't pan fried and as in any other cheap Greek taverna the fried red mullets I had this evening were deep fried and I expect on a low quality canola type of oil. The grilled sardines were burned to death smelling bad charcoal, the fried calamari and muscles tasteless and even though they were not fresh but frozen still they should have been cooked better. The grilled octopus was not edible, it was tough and flavorless. The Horta, a broiled type of wild greens were good and tomato salad was ok. The place was packed with customers most of them seamed to be seasonal tourists which I guess it makes an excuse to whomever run the restaurant to bring their main product to its lowest ever quality. Really disappointed for a place that had such a great reputation on good sea food in a unique location. I had great time in the past there simply because the fish was fresh and well prepared. Not the case today. I hope today was just an accident and that the owners should step up and do something about it cause I really love that place and I hate to see it becoming another typical uninteresting tourist destination. Two stars for the great views and the...

Located in the traditional Greek village of Afitos, Thea Thalassa is a beautiful spot perched on the hillside, offering views over the valley and the sea. The village itself is charming, with picturesque streets, lovely houses, plenty of souvenir and clothing shops, and adorable cats everywhere. The restaurant has a nice, elegant ambiance, and if you want a table with a view, a reservation is definitely recommended. We didn’t have one, but a table freed up after about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it was indoors near the kitchen, which was noisy and felt cramped, with the air conditioning blowing directly on us — not the most pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the place was quite busy. As for the food, I was expecting something more impressive. The starters were interesting and tasty, but the main pasta dishes were pretty basic. The menu overall felt limited, and prices are on the normal-to-expensive side considering the experience. The view is nice but not breathtaking, and keep in mind the beach is very far down in the valley, so it’s not convenient for beachgoers. Parking is also tricky — it’s best to leave your car in the large parking area at the entrance and walk, otherwise you risk getting stuck in the narrow streets. Overall, a beautiful location to visit for a stroll, shopping, and maybe a meal, but the restaurant itself didn’t fully live up to the hype for me.

"Thea Thalassa – A True Gem in Afitos" If you’re visiting Afitos and want to experience authentic Greek seafood at its finest, Thea Thalassa is a must. Perched on the edge of the village with stunning sea views, this charming restaurant combines a relaxed, coastal vibe with food that will genuinely impress. The menu is rich with fresh catches of the day – from perfectly grilled fish to tender calamari, mussels, and shrimp, all bursting with flavor. Pair your meal with a crisp white wine or a refreshing ouzo, and you’ll understand why locals and tourists alike recommend this place. The setting is equally delightful – tables overlooking the turquoise waters, the warm breeze, and the picturesque village backdrop all add to the magic. Service is friendly, and the team here works tirelessly to make your experience special. And here’s an important reminder for everyone: this is the heart of the summer season, when restaurants are at their busiest. The staff at Thea Thalassa give their absolute best every single day, often working long hours under pressure. They are not just servers; they’re people who work incredibly hard to keep guests happy. A little patience and appreciation go a long way. In short – great food, beautiful atmosphere, and a team that deserves every bit of your respect. Thea Thalassa isn’t just a meal, it’s part of the Afitos experience.
