My husband and I came to Afitos, and on our first day, we had lunch at a small taverna. It was nice, but we could never have imagined that later, while walking along the promenade, we would find a restaurant that we’d love so much we’d want to have dinner there every single day.
From the very first evening, it was clear that the people here work like a true family. They don’t set any boundaries in their communication with guests — they welcome you as if you were part of their own home. The atmosphere is so warm, genuine, and full of heart that you instantly feel like you belong there.
The service is a million out of ten. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in a Michelin-star restaurant or a simple family place — what truly matters is the feeling you get when you’re welcomed with sincerity and warmth. And here, that feeling is priceless.
Everyone on the team is kind, smiling, and sincerely focused on recommending what you will enjoy, not just on selling a dish. They know exactly how to approach a guest and how to create a perfect evening.
A special mention goes to the lady who seems to be either the owner or the head chef — we’re not entirely sure. She’s an incredibly kind and open-hearted woman. She took the time to talk to us and even let us chat with the kitchen staff. As a professional chef myself, I was absolutely fascinated to see how everything works behind the scenes — open, honest, and with so much passion for what they do. They have nothing to hide and are always happy to show their kitchen, to explain how and why they cook with such love and care.
And as for the food — that’s a story of its own. Every single dish we tried was simply delicious. So much so that we didn’t even feel the need to look for any other place for lunch or dinner. We had one clear plan — to come back here, because from the very first evening, we fell in love with it. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of authentic Greek flavor.
We sincerely wish this restaurant to stay just the way it is — to keep that family warmth, harmony, and passion that we saw every day during our week here.
We truly hope to come back — maybe next year, or in a few years — and to find the same wonderful team still here.
Thank you, with love, hugs, and...
Read moreAgainst all hopes, our visit to "Oceanides" turned out to be a let down. In the preceding days, we had dined at other restaurants on the promenade and had been uniformly satisfied with each experience. However, prompted by multiple invitations from the staff at Oceanides, we decided to give this restaurant a try as well.
Our party of four ordered various dishes including anchovies, halloumi, a Greek salad, grilled chicken, sauté chicken, grilled shrimps, and marinated linguine. Despite the waitress affirming all our orders, we quickly discovered that she had trouble understanding them.
After a while, the drinks arrived, but a diet coke was absent. Upon informing the waitress, she brought the missing coke, but without a glass.
For starters, the halloumi arrived first, followed by the Greek salad. Meanwhile, two of us were still waiting for a shared cold dish of anchovies. To our dismay, the anchovies didn't appear until after I had almost finished my main course of sauté chicken. What we thought was our other main course being served, the grilled chicken, turned out to be a steak, which was not what we had ordered. Upon raising this issue with the waitress, she claimed we had ordered a "stick" (implying "steak"), which was simply not true. Later, we were served the correct dish.
Sadly, the marinated linguine with shrimps was the last meal to arrive, and another main dish we ordered for the fourth person, the grilled shrimps, didn't show up at all. As a result, while waiting, the person who hadn't received their main course ate the shrimps from the linguine of the other person.
The staff made commendable efforts to compensate for the inconvenience caused by the misunderstood orders, offering us a free coke and a jug of white wine, a generous gesture indeed.
In conclusion, while the food quality was acceptable, the overall experience was tainted by the miscommunications and delays. Had we not been compensated, I would have given a 3-star rating. Although the compensation initially inclined me towards giving five stars, the missing grilled shrimps and the lengthy wait for our bill left me unable to award a perfect rating. If we ever come back there, I hope things will turn out more enjoyable than...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Yanis, the host, who is simply amazing. His genuine passion for ensuring every guest has a memorable experience shines through in every interaction. Yanis went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied, embodying the essence of true hospitality. The meals itself were unforgettable. We started with the grilled octopus, which was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and paired with just the right amount of seasoning. The grouper fish was equally impressive. Fresh and expertly prepared, the dish truly showcased the quality of ingredients and the chef’s skill. The servers were a delight, operating as a well-coordinated team. Their seamless collaboration and attentiveness added to the overall dining experience, making us feel cared for throughout our meal. Overall, this restaurant is a gem in Halkidiki. The combination of exceptional service, fresh and delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit. We will definitely be returning next time we’re...
