My partner and I visited Varkes Beach and left with mixed impressions. We paid €40 just for two sunbeds and an umbrella, with food and drinks charged separately — which is quite unusual for beach bars in the area, where typically you only need to meet a minimum spend to use the facilities.

Another inconvenience: you can’t order food ahead of time. The kitchen opens at 11:30 AM, and gyros are only available after 12:00 PM. There’s no option to place an order in advance and have it brought to you later — you simply have to wait.

On the plus side, the beach itself is clean, and the sea was calm. Also, you're allowed to bring your own food and drinks, which honestly is the better option here.

I mistakenly ordered a toast instead of a club sandwich — that was my fault, but I’ll still mention it because the portion and quality were disappointing, especially for the price.

Having visited most beaches on Sithonia and more recently exploring those on Kassandra, I’d say this place stands out negatively. Almost everywhere else, sunbeds and umbrellas are complimentary with a minimum consumption — a much more welcoming approach to tourism.

And for €40, the very least they could do is keep the toilets clean… which unfortunately,...

Not such a great beach. The sand is quite narrow and the water is not as clear as on other beaches. There is a section just as you get down to the beach for standard beach goers. It is not that big and starts to get packed very quickly. Make sure you take an umbrella with you as the beach is very exposed. There is a section just further along from there that rents out deck chairs and static umbrellas, but be warned it is very expensive. €50 per umbrella (with two deck chairs), but that ain’t the most expensive. There is another section to the right when you get down there and they charge €30 per person (so that’s €120 for a family of 4) and the section of beach that is on is just rocks when you head into the water. We turned round and went back to...

Cost for two sunbeds 40 EUR! 50 EUR if you want to leave and come.back later. +5 EUR if you need a third sunbed. All drinks and snacks are at extra high cost. The sunbeds are not sofisticated ones , but plain cheap sunbeds. The sea has not been cleaned from stones as it used to be few years ago. FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE OWNER OF THE SUNBEDS: YOUNG LADIES AT THE FRONT WHO WELCOME THE CUSTOMERS MUST BE PROPERLY TRAINED AND NOT SHOW ATTITUDE TOWARDS POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS - AFITOS BEACH IS NOT MONACO SO YOU NEED TO BE VERY REASONABLE AND PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE INSTEAD OF BLOWING THE CLIENTS AWAY. 40 EUR IS VERY HIGH PRICE FOR WHAT YOU OFFER AND...

I really loved spending time at Varkes beach in Afitos. The water is super clear and calm, and it stays shallow for quite a while, which makes it really relaxing to just float around or walk in. It felt alittle crowded but its long beach and you have alot of space to pick up.Its alittle dificult to go to the beach from the town down the stairs and part of the road, parking is 150m so if you have alot of stuff you will walk. Left side of the tavernas is sandy but right side is alittle rocky and far away there are alot of rocks in water. Best to go to the beaches of Afitos is with car beacuse there is parking with shade.

While looking for a clean and peaceful beach in Afitos, we found a great spot with a shower and a relaxing atmosphere. We paid €30 for two sunbeds and spent hours swimming in the crystal-clear water. The sea was so clear that even after an hour, we could spot and retrieve a car key that had fallen in. It was one of the cleanest and most enjoyable beaches I’ve visited. Highly recommended!
