L‘Osteria del Mare (Taverna Lefkada) — Restaurant in Lefkada Municipality

I had been travelling Greece for a few weeks and unfortunately this is where my seemingly endless streak of quality food ended. I can ONLY speak for the quality of the appetizers because that’s where we called it quits. The bread came first and I truly cannot fathom who thought this was appropriate to serve let alone charge one euro for (see picture below, the corner you see cut was my attempt to enjoy it with some butter which was somehow equally as disappointing). The bruschetta was soggy and tasteless; I hesitate to even call what I received by that name. The Kolokythokeftedes were nothing to run home about, at least I had some decent tirokafteri to drench them in (and yes, drenching was required). The only redeeming feature was the quick service, which allowed me to walk out as quick as possible and numb my mouth...

Food is overpriced, and the bad news is that the quality and taste of the food are not what you would expect for such a pricey menu. We ordered a special pizza for 18 euros, and the crust was the thinnest I have ever seen, the mozzarella was hardly present on top, and the overall taste was below average. Personally, I have never eaten a worse pizza. We also ordered a Caesar salad for 13 euros, and it was literally a tiny portion; they didn't even bother to add more rocket or lettuce. They also charged us 2 euros for a small slice of bread that we never asked. The restaurant is not worth a single penny and I wouldn’t recommend it. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. Upon being seated, it quickly became apparent that our presence was largely overlooked. The staff seemed entirely focused on attending to a large group of Australian guests, likely assuming they would generate the highest bill.

As a result, other guests—including ourselves—were left waiting without attention. I remained at the table for 30 minutes without anyone approaching to take our order or even ask if we needed anything. Eventually, I chose to leave without being served.

My sincere recommendation to the management and staff: all guests deserve equal attention and respect, regardless of group size or perceived spending. Consistent and inclusive service is the foundation of good...
