Great Kouvela — Restaurant in Meteora Municipality

Do NOT go to this AWFUL place even if your guide has brought you there. Here is why: The buffet system is quick but odd - before you understand it, you will pay for things you didn’t even want. The Greek salad is given to everyone in the queue which implies that it’s included in the main dish price - well it ISN’T. The owners exactly know that they trick the tourists which makes it even more shameful as for a Greek tavern.

As regards food: Pasta of the day - simply overcooked pasta with olives and tomatoes - for 12€ !!!!! Greek salad - tiny piece of feta cheese and a simple mix of onions, tomatoes and cucumbers with a little of olive oil - 4,50€ Rice with mussles - disgusting, I love the mussles but it was so awful I don’t know how anyone could have managed to do this to mussles. Or maybe they were not fresh. Anyway - such a waste. Lasagne and moussaka - dry, disappointing - for 13€ Wine - the only thing we enjoyed and in a reasonable price Free dessert - the cheapest possible little tiny plastic cup of fruit jelly - it was even not that bad as it made me laugh out loud.

All the food was prepared earlier (due to the buffet system) thus it simply could not taste good as most of it was already cold. Additionally it was a ROBBERY - 36€ for 2 for this cold, dry and awful food - I would have made better dinner at home for not more than 10€.

We arrived with a tour bus for a planned lunch on our way to Meteora but even though it was planned they seemed completely surprised to see so many people at once. Don't get the buffé because you don't get to pick your food yourself and they will put too much food on your plate so by the time you get to the end of the buffé there won't be room on your plate. My bf asked for one big meatball to try, he got three. Then he asked for a little bit of rice, and they filled up half of his plate with rice. This buffet was the recommended option in a day tour to Meteora. We were told that it should be €12 with starter main and desert. This was fine but as soon as we got in, more things were being pushed and added to the try (literally by the staff) to oversell. Eventhough they kept swapping different drinks, they refused to remove it once it went through the bill. They blamed corona which was ridiculous as they kept putting stuff on our trays (so could have removed it)!

In the end it was quite a pricy meal, mediocre quality, and not very welcoming staff. We've paid the same amount for much higher quality in Parga for a sit down served meal....
