This place looks beautiful. The restaurant is in a gorgeous courtyard, all green leaves and dappled shade. It feels secluded despite being so close to the sea and all the shops.
I was really excited to go here, but the gentleman serving us seemed really grumpy. Everyone's allowed to be grumpy from time to time, but he sat us right by the maitre d stand, brought us our bill as soon as we ordered - before we'd actually finished ordering, as it turned out - and literally the only smile we got was after we paid. It made me feel like he thought I was going to run off without paying! Not nice, and I haven't experienced anything like it before.
The food was fine, although my beetroot hummus tasted a bit odd, I thought it might have red wine in it which isn't in the description of the menu. Maybe double check that if you order falafel and you're teetotal. The tzatziki was great.
It was practically empty when we went, which I usually prefer, but it wasn't a chill vibe. If you decide to go here, I would recommend going during a peak time when there's a lovely atmosphere and background noise. I think they have live music on Sunday...
Read moreWorst eating experience ever, literally. Our waiter brought the wine glasses holding them by the rim with 4 fingers. When we complained we were informed that "waiters are not obliged to wear gloves. He wore a mask on his chin... The salad was a day-old affair, that even looked dirty if you can imagine and drowned in balsamic sauce. The schnitzel "bites" stunk of much used oil and we could not tell what we were biting into. We left the food untouched, asked for the bill and nobody raised an eyebrow. We were not asked why we didn't eat and we paid 31 euros. We left within 15 minutes of arriving. The rating should have the option of minus stars for me to give this place justice. So I will give it...
Read moreWe got the feeling we were not good enough for the place. Even though Greece is renown for it's hospitality that doesn't count here. It was a Saturday night, 2230. Barely 20 people in the place that could accommodate 150+. "Have you got a reservation ?" , not even 'good evening, welcome' or a smile. "No, but I can see there is plenty of room", lots of tables were without a reserved notice. "All these are reserved, the only free table is there at the back". This 'free' table was right out side the toilet & kitchen doors. Lovely. My wife and I looked at each other, didn't even sit down and walked out. Went to Maistrali and had a wonderful time. I wonder what Congo would have thought about the...
