Very disappointed by the variety of the menu options. The dishes are very special. For example the first dish was "Spaghetti With Pistachio Pesto", but it doesn't have something classic to get, such as a simple spaghetti dish or any other normal food that people make in their kitchens. Thankfully I had already had a crepe before at another restaurant so I wasn't so hungry and I simply didn't get anything, but it was really disappointing. There was also a fan over my head, that had a rusty mount and every time it turned around it made a loud squeaky noise that made me want to pull it of the wall. The salad and the fried cheese that my parents ordered was pretty nice though. Overall, an ok experience if you consider the fact that the restaurant is supposed to have modern items in it's menu. The toilets on the other hand, were unfortunately really bad. There were papers on the ground, pee on the toilet seat, no paper in the dispenser neither in the toilet or for your hands. At the end though, they did offer a dessert for free, so this was a nice touch. The servers were really friendly though and they asked all the time if everything was fine and if we were satisfied. Read moreIf you want to try Greek cuisine with a modern twist, you have to visit this restaurant. The owner, Dimitris Kappos, is bit of a legend in Aegina. His restaurant surely is something special. I had two starters (Mushrooms with local herbs and cheese; Traditional Meatballs) plus the main course: Kebab. Everything was made in the open kitchen in the restaurant and you can watch the cooks preparing your food. The mushrooms were delicious. Crispy but tender, the right amount of cheese on top. Meatballs did not disappoint too. The Kebab, made from three different meat, with fresh oven backed tomatoes, self-made Tsatziki and Pita was amazing. Plain, but not simple. Rich textures, cooked to perfection. Service was also perfect. So it should be definitely on your dinner list in Aegina. Only one thing: I was there out of season. As some other users pointed out: it may be different during high season times (Mid-June to end of September). The Restaurant has a big garden (only open on warm days), the kitchen is small and they cook everything fresh. So be prepared for some waiting time. But it is...
Read moreMy husband ordered the chicken with bacon & Cream. The chicken was overcooked a bit dry. I ordered the milk veal, which was ordered as medium, and yes it was cooked to medium, but the fat needed to be rendered on a hot flame, instead is was very fatty, pale in colour and quite tough and chewy. The cabbage slaw with was delicious as was the house Rose. It's not just this place, but why do Greeks serve everything with potato fries. What happened to delicious Greek cooking of roasted potatoes with lemon zest and garlic...I believe we eat better Greek food in Australian than in Greece. The waiter was attentive, but I noticed he didn't ask if we enjoyed the food, given how much fat was left...
