We ended up at the Dimitris by chance. My husband and I were on Crete for the first time and simply strolled along the promenade. There is plenty of choice of restaurants here with good menus and nice promoters. We walked past many of these restaurants that look great and ended up at Dimitris. It appealed to us straight away. The ambience is great. There are places in a small alley next to the restaurant as well as across the street under large trees. The waiter - not so much a promoter as simply attentive - approached us in a friendly manner and asked if he could help us. We sat at one of the tables in the alley and it was wonderful. Greek music played softly. We were served in an extremely friendly manner and given very good advice on our choice of dishes. The food itself was unbelievably delicious. Compared to the prices and portions of many other restaurants, the plate was well filled and the food was simply fantastic. We had garlic pita bread and tzaziki as a starter and grilled fish (catch of the day) and a tomahawks steak as a main course. Both cooked to perfection. The food was hot when we got it. The flavour was simply wonderful. We were not disappointed and will definitely be back! All in...
Read moreAfter having a good stroll trough Elounda we settled for Dimitris steak house as you could see the place full with locals, the staff were very friendly without being intrusive. We ordered these: Stuffed vine leaves and courgette flowers Deep fried courgettes with cheese Souvlaki pork and one with chicken Octopus with fava bean purée Moussaka I can honestly say the food was 5*, you could tell everything was homemade and prepared with a lot of care. The provided us with freshly baked olive oil bread and dips, rake, yoghourt and chocolate biscuits all on the house! We had 3 alcoholic drinks plus soft drinks and everything came to €77.50! And total bargain for a true Cretan experience. As a chef myself I was truly impressed with this restaurant, I can wait to go back and try other dishes. On Saturday evening they also have lamb & chicken on the spit roast, super popular but you must...
Read moreI was there by myself and I just felt disheartened by the cold approach in the beginning and no approach at all after they serve the food to me I didn’t feel like I was welcomed . The food was okay , for me the food didn’t set the bar in my opinion . I expected to get a chance to finish the starters before they bring out the main dish but instead they brought main dish before I even eat the half of the dakos . When the waiters serve the food , they just bring the plate of food and put it on the table with no say and leave . Even tho there are like 5 to 6 waiters if I’m not wrong , no one came to check on me .i felt I was left out alone .
All I can say in the end is that the service was not great and the...
