meRaki — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

Me Raki, a tavern in a typically Greek style. The two owners run this place with so much love and wholehearted dedication. They provide a wonderful setting for traditional Cretan dishes, and even though they only moved here from Germany two months ago, they already capture the essence of Cretan history and culture perfectly through their cuisine!

Incredibly friendly and attentive, they create a feel-good atmosphere for both young and old—something you might not expect at first glance, given the still very simply furnished tavern.

Nadine and Alex are a prime example of what it means to emigrate and truly integrate. They don’t just love the Cretan weather and food, but also maintain friendly and respectful relationships with the locals, and clearly impress on all fronts with their skills.

I drove all the way from Agios Nikolaos on the recommendation of some local acquaintances, and I was not disappointed in the slightest!

Wonderful experience! You're welcomed with a smile, the tables are clean, the menu offers lot of typical and traditional dishes. Don't play shy and ask for the fresh fish of the day: it's really good and cooked to the perfection. Good the beer, exceptional the wine (pick the Retsina). The service is quick, full of smiles and good advices for your every question. Already visited few times, will return again. As in other establishments, seems a custom to receive "on the house" a sweet at the end of the meal, a bottle of Raki, or as alternative a dish of refreshing fruit. Good the greek coffee. From the moment we stepped into your taverna, it was clear that you had found your dream. The service and food were simply incredible!

The chef is all by himself in the kitchen, pouring his heart and soul into every dish he creates. His seasoning is spot on, and the flavors are simply divine. We tried multiple different dishes during our four visits, and all of them were amazing.

The only downside is that we didn’t come more often for dinner. That’s on us, not you!

Thank you for the amazing dinners at your comfortable and friendly taverna. And a special thank you for an unforgettable birthday dinner. It was easily one of the best dinners in my 40 years!
