Plakias beach is at the bay head, long, curved, sandy, and partially protected by the mountainous cliffs that embrace it. The beach is also partially shaded by tamarisk trees (salt cedars, almariki in Greek). Shaded sitting areas with beach chairs, and umbrellas on the beach itself) make this a very comfortable place for all. Nearby (across the busy coastal road) are a plethora of cafes and tavernas offering fresh fish (grilled) and Greek salads. Enjoy...

When we arrived there were not many people on the beach since there was a red flag which did not allow swimming but the waves were not big nor strong and it was perfect for a swim. The beach sand is perfect and the water was a little bit colder than usual since the day before there was a strong wind. Beach bar wine was 25e per bottle which was okay. It was a little bit windy. Water was clear not cloudy nor muddy. We had a great time.

Our favourite part of the lovely long sandy beach of Plakias. Sadly, this year we were told we could not sit in the shaded sitting area of the beach bar as we would wet the chairs. We were at the time absolutely dry, the kids had gone off to the beach and were about to order (NOT the cushioned sofa but the plain chairs on which we had spent many lovely mornings and evenings swimming and eating and drinking in the past). So we could only sit in the not so shady and overcharged sunbeds (10 euros for 2 on the beach house as opposed to 6 euros in the next beach bar). Not sure how many dry clients they will have in the future, but they have...

At the time we were there, which was two times in total, ot wasn't busy. I thought it would be way more touristic, but it wasn't. I didn't like the fact that there were no bathrooms - I was on my period (sorry guys, but women just have this thing once a month, usually..) and it was a problem changing. We also didn't see many other facilities.

What I really liked though, is that the beach is quite big and at the end of the boulevard is another, smaller beach which is nicer to snorkel :-) this part doesn't have sunbeds and parasols though, but if you don't mind this I'd recommend...

Had to change my rate from 5 to 1 star. Last year we were enjoying super cockatalis and some good food from this place and everything was very good (except knifes from blender in one of the coctails). But this year we tried to eat and drink something and it was very very disappointing. The sandwich made from pieces of dry meat, ugly cheese and dry bread was the worst thing I ever had in whole Greece (6 or 7 euro). For the 25 euro spent there we get almost nothing... so it is better to go to...
