Very rude owner. Other waitress was happily attending us, we wanted to buy 5 gyros and leave, but the owner very very rudely told us to wait outside as if we were rude and disruptive. We were super calm and tired…
EDIT Reply#3: Astonishing the free time a busy restaurant has. I would love seeing the footage of the five of us, not being a hassle and well dressed and you rudely dismissing us. Let me know where I can access this. I’ve added the dress (not sandy bathing suit) my gf was wearing (with a Gyros from a fantastic restaurant called Peri Peri), for reference. All i was hoping was for an apology and we could have easily moved on, but you chose to lie, that’s not ok.
Reply#2: And the lies keep on coming. Let me clarify somethings to the owner. Five of us went to your restaurant because of your 4.7 Google Reviews. We came from our boat, my gf dressed in a beautiful purple dress, my sister’s fiance wearing white shorts and a blue linen shirt, my sister wearing a white linen shirt with brown linen pants, my brother’s gf wearing a flowery shirt with a skirt, and I was wearing a green polo with shorts. We did not come from a beach and were also not wet. Also, from our point of view, you looked relatively empty and calm. Especially since your waitress was more than happy to answer any of our questions. It was only until we interacted with the owner that we encountered a hostile environment. All in all, we would have happily and gladly waited outside your restaurant if it wasn’t by the abrupt and rude action done by the owner, making us feel like five very polite customers were too much of a hassle for her restaurant. I hope the owner reflects on our reviews and doesn’t treat future customers like this. Efcharistó kai kalinýchta
Reply#1: Already the owner’s response is a representation of her character. The restaurant had 2 out of 10 tables with people, all also dressed same as us. The waitress that was serving us apologised for the owner’s behaviour when we left. We didn’t want to wait in any sofas, all we asked was to wait inside because it was 32° outside. And finally, the questions we were asking was about the food and some help with the translations, which I believe are very normal questions for a restaurant whose menu is in Greek and a little...
Read moreOk, I'll start with the good points. The food was lovely - can highly recommend the chefs speciality and the croquette cheese balls. The pacing of the service was good and we didn't feel rushed out of there, which I hate. There's a good choice of drinks and I didn't think the pricing was unreasonable. Portion sizes were perfect. On to the bad. As the woman in the group, I was made to feel like a completely second-class customer. The waitress gave me such a dirty look when I initially asked for our table that I actually asked my husband if I'd said anything wrong when we sat down. Throughout the evening she barely made eye contact or smiled at me, but beamed at my husband, repeatedly asking him for a review and checking with him if the food was ok, but never me. This isn't the first time I've experienced this in Greece so I feel it's a cultural thing that I'm mostly prepared to overlook, but the cherry on top of the cake for me was when another waiter came over and asked my husband if I had finished eating! When I walked through the restaurant and asked our waitress for the bill I got a curt nod and she didn't even make eye contact with me. The only time I got any real acknowledgement that I existed was when it became obvious that I was the one paying the bill, obviously looking for a tip. A real shame, because despite the good food I felt incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome all night. We will not be returning.
Edit: feel the need to clarify something after the restaurants response; they were NOT busy. In fact, my husband actually commented to me how quiet it was. From memory, there were 3 other occupied tables in the entire restaurant. Also, if the waitress felt she could only talk to the most talkative person in the group, that is absolutely not my husband - he's always fairly quiet in a public setting. Such a shame that this restaurant has chosen to tell lies and make up excuses, it only re-enforces my feelings to...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to eat in the area and because it had good reviews we decided on Riviera Kitchen & Grill. I will start with the positives. The place is cozy, and even though it is located next to a busy street it is quiet inside. We ordered one beef burger and one veggie burger and they were both very delicious. Now for the negative stuff. We were the only people other than the staff inside the restaurant which resulted in the waitress to be 1-2 meters behind us with her eyes locked on us from the moment she gave us the menus. I felt really uncomfortable being looked at while trying to look through the menu and decide with my friend what we would get. She was also impatiently asking us if we are done deciding, but her being there made the process 10 times harder for us. We both decided on burgers. I really wanted a burger with some type of meat but all of them had cheddar sauce. As someone with lactose intolerance the word cheddar alone, makes me sick. I can handle some cheeses but cheddar is something my body can't seem to tolerate even in minimal portions. Since the waitress was all the time behind us looking at us, I asked her a simple question: 'I would like a burger but they all have cheddar sauce which is something I probably shouldn't consume. Do you happen to have other cheeses or can we take it completely off the burger?' She misunderstood my question completely, didn't give me a proper answer at all, which resulted in me getting the veggie burger in fear that even if I request something they will get it wrong. So yeah I ended up eating something I didn't want because again she was waiting impatiently behind us and I didn't have time to look through the menu again to decide on an...
