We paid 161€ for the worst lunch ever. First of all, we ordered a crab salad and they served us a fake crab - surimi salad (see photo). This was unacceptable and we sent the dish back. Then the lobster - spaghetti came, which we preordered fresh from the previous day. We've had this dish many times in the past, so we knew what to expect. Unfortunately, it was unspeakably terrible. The lobster itself had no taste whatsoever, just a tasteless piece of rubber. The spaghetti was overcooked, but most importantly had no taste as well. There was no sauce, no spices, no flavour in the dish. It is really hard to make a lobster tasteless, yet they achieved that, and made us pay 121€ for this dish. Maybe it was frozen, we can't be sure. When we complained about the dish, they said absolutely nothing. They were speechless and accepted our payment silently. When we were leaving, the owner and all of the staff disappeared, maybe out of shame. Our biggest mistake is that we paid for this lunch. Avoid at all costs. P. S. We are Greeks.

Really homely place with amazing old photos of Batsi. The waiting staff were really helpful and were quick to respond whenever I asked for anything, the owner even called to helped me find information about the bus the next day. The food was epic, I had the bonito with carob rusk bread, it was one of the tastiest things I’ve eaten, it was like molasses bread which worked so well with the fish. The waiter was kind enough to show me the packaging so I could buy some the next day. The wine was local and excellent. I had the Andros cheese which was really tasty, goat cheese (I think) but not a strong flavour and creamy. For main dish, I had the slow cooked goat with bucatini, the goat was melty and yummy and fell apart my mouth, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. I found a few little bones but it was fine to remove. Really enjoyable experience especially as I was dining alone.

Stamatis Restaurant in Andros is a true gem! Located in a beautiful spot with stunning views, it offers authentic Greek cuisine full of flavor and heart. The seafood is incredibly fresh, especially the grilled octopus and calamari, and the local dishes like moussaka and fava are rich and delicious. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive, making you feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and charming, perfect for a long, enjoyable meal. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, Stamatis is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience the best of traditional Andros hospitality and food.

Tried to reserve a table 2 hours(ish) before arriving to get a front seat overlooking the port. Left my name with them but on arrival was told that no name was left - could be due to a miscommunication between staff. Was still seated at the front so no real issue here. Ordered the tzatziki as a starter which was very good, not enough bread to get through it all though, so ordered some more to go with it. About a minute after the extra bread came to finish off the tzatziki (which was still unfinished) - the mains came out before clearing the starter which is unheard of for a restaurant. My girlfriend had the goat which she enjoyed (had no idea what the mystery orange stuff was). Whereas I had the cod and garlic puree. It came battered so was expecting it filleted but alas there were many bones in one of the pieces, which put me off my meal if I'm honest! We sat there for a while for our mains to be cleared and had to grab the waiter walking past to do so. After this it seemed we were just forgotten about and tables that had arrived after us were already paying / getting coffees. Safe to say, we chose not to stay for dessert and went to the local, very decent, bakery instead. I'm sure this isn't what most people's visits are like as I can see from reviews, and maybe I just chose the wrong thing, but out of the 4 of 6 days we're staying in Batsi, every restaurant so far has trumped this place, so we won't be returning this holiday. On the plus side it does have some very good views...

The restaurant is very nice, we ate grilled sardines which were really great, peppers and stuffed tomatoes which was very tasty and moussaka which was fine. Overall a pleasant experience, maybe next time we will focus more on fish and seafood.👇👇👇 Update😓 In short - an unpleasant atmosphere, a long wait for food and a smoking staff inside the restaurant. The day before we had enjoyed the same restaurant (it was almost empty then) and decided to go back for dinner. When we entered the hostess (who is probably also in charge / owner) was not welcoming. We waited 10 minutes until they took the order, we ordered 3 main courses and one main, the restaurant has a mess and the staff can barely keep up, the manager really shouted and got angry at the waiters and the kitchen really made an unpleasant sense, the waiters tried very hard. But it did not help. The first courses took almost half an hour and the main course (fish soup) took almost 40 minutes! Although it was reasonable, it really could not be considered as a main course and did not justify the wait.

The thing that really ruined our experience is that the manager sat down in the middle of the restaurant and smoked next to the rest of the customers. The waiter was nice and offered us dessert at the expense of the house but we no longer had the urge to stay. Reasonable food but overall experience...

At first the place seemed nice. We were welcomed by a nice waiter who even tried to speak French with us. But after having ordered our meals.. we have been waiting for about 40 minutes. All the other people were served before us though we arrived before them (we may have taken some time to decide what to order.. but still.. I felt like we were waiting like forever). My friend was just starving and looked at the waiter showing him her watch so that he could understand we were waiting... and he just made a little wave to say to wait. Then we were served and as soon as we have finished, the only thing we wanted was to go home. So we stood up before the bill was ready. Then the waiter asked if we were waiting for something. We said the bill because we wanted to go home.. Well, he asked if we wanted something to drink but it was way too late... I mean.. he could have at least said sorry for the long wait. But no. So was my quick reply: « No. ». I really hope this place deserves its rate. But the experience was not our best moment in...
