During my short holiday in Benitses, I had the pleasure to stumble upon Flora's, looking at the inviting photos in the reviews and the beautiful variety of options for each meal, one day walking past I asked the waiter if it was possible to book a table for me for dinner. Unfortunately that night it rained heavily so I missed it. I felt very regretful but luckily the last day of my stay, the restaurant was already open for lunch and I ended up having the opportunity to lunch at Flora’s. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was nervous due to not having enough time to eat and take my bus back to the airport, I apologised to the waiter first for missing the dinner I booked the previous time and asked if I could have a table there again. He smiled politely and gave me a table. I had intended to try the vegetarian moussaka but I immediately changed my mind upon seeing the variety of vegetable-based starters, which not every restaurant has. The very ones I wanted to try cooking at home too! I was served the variety of spreads, a plate of grilled spicy peppers and a rocket salad, all accompanied by a generous portion of pita bread. I was really afraid that it was too large of an order for myself but in the end everything was so delicious that only the olive pits were left on the plates. I think the waiter was also impressed! Everything was fresh and tasty, the salad was probably my favourite. The plate was huge but I could have had another honestly. I think it deserves to be mentioned that I ended up replicating the rocket salad and the spreads at home, although the taste I had at Flora’s was unbeatable in comparison! I was also served a limoncello for free. With less than 15 minutes to spare, I was undecided whether to ask for a dessert or not but what the hell, I couldn't leave Benitses without having tasted the last one of my holiday. I asked the waiter to give me a recommendation even though I had already planned to order the lemon pie. There is nothing better than a lemon dessert for me and I’m grateful that my instincts were right because that was the best lemon pie I ever had in my life, and I had plenty of them! You could tell it was made by someone who puts their love into cooking, a family recipe never fails to disappoint. If I close my eyes I can vividly taste it in my mouth, it was fluffy, moist and so heart warming! My only regret is that I had to eat it in three whole bites due to the lack of time. I could only manage to thank the waiter and his mom for the lovely lunch, although I wish had the time to speak more with them and hopefully get a glimpse of the recipe too! It’s a long review mine but I felt the need to share my whole experience at Flora’s. I hope it will continue to grow and receive lots of attention. Thank you Flora! See you hopefully...
Read moreA very unpleasant experience on our last night in Corfu Wanted to go somewhere special for our last night of the holiday. Because we were a large group of 8 adults, we booked a table. Booking was for 8 o clock and half the party arrived at 8:09 and the other half at 8:20 which I admit is not cool. The owner rereprimanded us which was ok as we were late. However we were given menus and then waited a long time to place our order. Then we waited 58 minutes for the first courses which were mainly cold dishes that didn't require cooking. The owner said again that it was difficult to serve us as we were late. Then we waited and waited for the mains, once again we were told that it was because we were late. The portions were smaller than most restaurants that we ate at on our 7 nights in Corfu. The people sitting alongside of us at a different restaurant to the right of Flora's came after us and had finished their meal before we even started and the portions looked much more generous. When my husband went to pay, the owner accused us of coming an hour late. It appeared to us that the extremely slow service was a "punishment" for being late, of which we were reminded several times...

As other honest, unsatisfied reviews we expect the owner to respond and try to talk his way out which shows the unwillingness to improve the lacking side of the service. It is easy to reply when you can have the last word. We were told the food may take 1 hour to be prepared because the restaurant was busy. We agreed, sat down patiently and after 1.40 hours asked if they forgot about us. The waiter insisted we only had waited for an hour for whatever reason and was angry we came to ask for the situation of our meal. Multiple tables experienced the same. What we wished for would be at least for the staff to approach us after the promised hour and be honest about the remaining preparation time of the meal.
The good food lost its taste from the unfriendlines...
