Ariadni restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

We have been to Koutoulafari many times but our first time here. The waitress who greeted us . No smile no welcome very business like. We were given menus .. 15 minutes before drink orders taken. Then another 15 mins for menu orders then 15 mins for starters to come another 20 for pizzas. Starter was amazing. Red wine good! Pizza .. I’m sorry but nothing I’ve ever had before and hope I never do again. It was the namesakes’ pizza with pepperoni, ham and sausage. I’m sorry but the sausage was like American hot dogs.. did not belong on this pizza like a real Italian sausage would. Unfortunately just not a good tasting pizza at all. The sauce needs seasoning, crust was not good at all. Ambiance of the restaurant .. none!.. all quiet on the front. No one came by to ask how everything was during or after the meal. Sorry just...

Walked past looking for a birthday meal for my Husband Gary. The guy was spinning pizza dough and ringing a bell and he just seemed interesting so we picked this place. Staff were very friendly asking our name and kept using our name throughout. Place was very busy for a Sunday night but we were served and had drinks on the table within minutes and food was about 15/ 20 later. We ordered the greek plates for two and it was dynamite. Staff then came out with a cocktail and sparkler while singing happy birthday. Probably the best evening and meal we have had in Crete. Very authentic and would go again without hesitation. Warm atmosphere greets you as you are welcomed by the host of this family-run restaurant. A diverse menu allows a wide selection of foods. The pasta was well prepared, not over-cooked and the vegetarian pasta is a true treat - with a Savoury combination of mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives and... capers. Massive portions. Also sampled the gardeners salad which was a tasty combination of leaf lettuce, raisins, walnuts, Parmesan cheese tossed in a delightful balsamic glaze with honey.
