Filoxenia — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

Filoxenia Restaurant is a nice place off the "main strip" in Kato Gouves, hence why it probably was not very busy when we arrived as a large group of 10. We were easily accommodated in the garden area with a nice view next to their own garden where they grow their own vegetables. Our waiter Rimi was exceptional and looked after us very well. We were gifted a plate of fresh cherry tomatoes and local cheese (amazing and fresh) while we waited for our meal to arrive - which did not take long. I ordered the house rosé wine and mixed grill for 1 which was excellent. Cooked to perfection and a very satisfying portion of food at a very reasonable price. Amazing restaurant, with wonderful owners and staff, great value for money. Rimmi our waiter was a very nice guy who talked us through the menu, asking what our favourite foods were, the owner came over for a chat too and introduced us to his wife and cook, all the food is freshly cooked to order, so there's a little wait, we just soaked up the atmosphere with a Crafe of wine each, whilst browsing the menu, we decided to go straight for the mains, Mixed Grill for me and the wife chose Lamb chops. I visited this restaurant once for dinner while on holiday in Crete. I just happened to be passing on my way back to my hotel & it just felt inviting to go inside so I did. I was seated and my order taken by a really friendly, warm and welcoming gentleman. I ate the best, most tender and juicy lamb kleftico I had ever eaten! It’s a big favourite of mine to eat when in Greece. I was joined by the most gorgeous kittens while I dined and sipped some delicious red wine! The prices were so good for what I got as well.
