Kreta Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

So unpleasant experience. When we entered the place, there were some people siting in front of laptop – look like staff, more owners of the place. They did not even stood up to greet us.

We were in a hurry for a plane, so when they brought the menus, we just said that we wanted a greek salad and that's is. The man brought the menus (I suppose he was the owner) snorted and chiseled "just greek salad."

He brought the salad and it was a bit worse than an ordinary salad in Crete. When I asked for the bill, while he was passing by our table, he chiseled 5.75 and sat down the table with some other guests. I did not have any cash, so I was going to pay with a card. He was sitting for like 15 minutes, and than stood up and came up. When I said I am going to pay with a card, he started yelling at me "This is ridiculous, you what, don't have 5.75 for the salad in cash?!" . I was so embarrassed with such behaviour, even did not manage to respond anything. When he came back with a machine, he continued wailing and complaining about me paying with a card.

Sooo bad experience, the evening was spoiled, especially this was our last meal on Crete before departure. Such a bad impression. Please stay away form visiting...

Well what can I say. Our second year in malia. We never new about this lovely place last year. So glad we do know. We paid 2 visits and will definitely be back next year. We were warned by others to get there early ass it fills up fast. Gosh they got that right. We arrived at 7.30pm first ones in. No kidding within 10 mins every single table was taken up. People actually waiting out side for a table to free up. We had a very warm welcome from the owner George. A Lovely personal touch to sit with uss to take our order instead off the normal hover over you with a pad and off. Between George his daughter and kitchen staff they were really busy but managed to make it look a breeze. The decor is just beautiful. To have a tree inside I didnt expect but it was a fantastic touch. The whole night both nights were perfect I even tryed the Greek food off course. I recommend anyone to pay a visit. Food is good, but not great. Relatively good value for money etc, good taste, but doesn't justify the high star rating on google reviews. The chips were bizarrely wet. We also had the most bizarre experience upon entering. No one to great us for a few minutes, I stuck my head around the corner to politely ask if there was a table for two. The waiter stared at me in some sort of disbelief before seating me and my partner at a temporary table to "wait for a seat". We sat right next to a huge noisy fan for 10 minutes, staring at a 90% empty restaurant, with the waiter walking past us completely ignoring us multiple times. He then seated us at a table that had been empty the entire time. Whilst eating our food, not a single person entered the restaurant... so there was never any shortage of space. Other people seemed to get watermelon and raki with their bill, we got neither... all in all just...
