My partner and I stayed here in June. We were greeted by Ari in the early hours of the morning around 2 am, he kindly stayed up for our arrival. Upon entering he greeted us with a very friendly demeanour, offered to take our bags, gave us free ice cold bottles of water and escorted us to our rooms. He explained how everything in the room worked and was very attentive to make sure we were comfortable before wishing us a good night. The room is a perfect size for a couple, everything was clean, inviting and air con worked without hassle. The room was basic but had everything you could need.
The view from the balcony was amazing when we opened the curtains on the first morning, beautiful scenes of sun blessed mountains surround the hotel in the distance.
Ibiscus is a family run hotel and has the warm embrace of a family home. Throughout our stay Ari and his family were very pleasant and eager to assist us to enjoy our holiday. He gave brilliant advice for the beaches, ventures and the most delicious restaurants in Malia. All of which were right beside the hotel. Right across the road is a convenient shop and only 5 minutes down the road is a supermarket that has everything you need at great prices.
The centre of Malia is a 2 minute walk from Ibiscus, the old town on the right and the strip leading to a 15 minute walk to the beach on the left, allowing to experience the best of both worlds at all times.

Read moreWhat an amazing stay we’ve had! It was my very first time on this beautiful island, and although I came with little expectation, everything exceeded them in the best possible way.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, who immediately helped us with everything we needed.
During our 12-day stay, we were treated with such incredible care. In this wonderful family-run hotel, you can truly feel the time, energy, and love that Aris, Dimitri, Eleni, and the rest of the family put into it.
This hotel radiates warmth and kindness—you can sense it in everything. Whether it’s morning, afternoon, or evening, they are always there with positive energy.
Over a nice drink and a bite to eat (at incredibly affordable prices), you’ll have the most enjoyable conversations and receive the best tips on how to explore this beautiful island, including hidden places you would never have discovered otherwise.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the lovely clean rooms of this charming hotel and by the spacious swimming pool.
This place is an absolute must if you’re planning a holiday to Crete. It’s the perfect base to explore the rest of the island!
Ignore the negative reviews—I read them beforehand, but we didn’t experience any of those issues at all. Focus on the positive and enjoy a fantastic hotel with truly wonderful people.
Aris, Dimitri, and Eleni—thank you so much for this...
Read moreThank you very much to the hosts. We had a wonderful stay. First, I would like to mention that I cannot understand the criticism regarding the air conditioning. It is clearly communicated by both the hotel description and the hosts. On the first night, you have the option to try the air conditioning for free. If you do not need it, you return it (the remote control) the next day. Very simple. The hotel rooms are basic, but you can feel comfortable. In the quiet pool area, you can enjoy delicious scrambled eggs and other snacks for a small amount. Towels and bed linens are changed regularly. As a suggestion for improvement, I would mention the kitchen equipment. Forks and a pan belong to the basic equipment for me. There is indeed no soap available, but that's fine; you can just get one for 1-2 euros at the supermarket next door. Not a big deal. All in all, a good price-performance ratio. The hotel is ideal for young people and those who spend most of their time traveling to explore the beautiful island of Crete.
We would choose the Ibiscus...
