This hotel was horrifying. I do not understand the good reviews for this hotel, unless they are being filtered. Firstly, the location was horrible. Not near anything and also hard to find from the transfer drop-off on the main road. Secondly, and MOST disturbingly, the room was filthy. We found bio-hazardous stains on the walls, towels, bed sheets and floor. I have attached just a few of the many photos. We immediately notified staff (it was 1am) and he oddly touched all the stains. He then gave us new towels and sheets - just for those to also be stained and soiled. Thirdly, as it was too late in the night to find a new hotel, we had to try and sleep a few hours. We had to sleep on one bed that we covered ourselves, to avoid touching anything. Young party-goers made loud noises all night, slamming doors, talking and shouting. Someone either banged on our door or leant on it, but it almost sounded like they were opening the door. It was around 4-5am when it (sort of) quietened. The night check-in staff had offered us a different room for the next day, BEFORE we discovered the loudness ourselves, which proves the staff are aware of the issues. Fourthly, when we checked out at around 6:30am, the staff member was very standoffish and defensive. We kindly asked to check out due to how uncomfortable we were, and he was nothing but difficult. He huffed and puffed the entire time. He was more concerned that the TUI Reps were on their way. They charged the tourist tax at check in and he refused to return the tax for the nights we were not going to stay. He also claimed he had "paid it already" and that "14 Euros was not a lot of money to us" and "a lot to him" - which was beyond disrespectful. Thankfully we did not pay for the aircon charge (which was also a joke, considering it was 30+ Degrees Celsius) we would've never seen that money back. We luckily found another hotel, which we practically begged for early check in, so left immediately at 7am. If we couldn't of afforded another hotel, this would've been despicable. This hotel requires so much improvement, it's a joke. I would never recommend this hotel - save your money.

As this is a two star hotel it should really only get two stars, however for the price we paid it is superb. The location is very good, a short walk to the strip and the old town, a slightly longer walk down the strip to get to the beach. Extremely good and friendly staff (reception and bar). For a two star hotel it does exactly what you pay for don't expect 5 star accommodation. I found the biggest negative was people arriving at midnight making loads of noise, we were woken up 3x. When checking in the management need to remind arriving guests to be quiet as people are asleep, perhaps a sign on reception in big red letters saying "shhhh people sleeping". This is not a fault of the hotel, just the inconsiderate guests arriving. Breakfast was very basic. The rooms were very basic with single beds (I would have liked a double, I was on holiday after all ;-) ;-) ). If you hire a car/bike there is a small carpark. Pick up and drop off via Tui was a short walk. Air con was extra for the week and so was a key to the safe in the room, however this is normal for a budget hotel. We paid €35 to keep the room on the last day as our pickup time was 10pm, this allowed us to have a full last day of swimming, eating and drinking cocktails, then a quick shower pack up and go well worth €35. Thank you Frixos for a cheep holiday in Malia.

Great stay here ,,hosts were amazing, couldn't do enough for you and very friendly. Everything was clean and to a reasonable standard for the price we paid !. 5 minutes walk into malia centre, 2 minutes walk to a local supermarket. Room was basic and clean ,nice view from the balcony. Nice pool with pool bar and a range of snacks and dinners.breakfast was typical, cerial, meats, cheese toast ,eggs and sausages. Loved it ,would definitely return.

We booked our stay at Frixos Hotel for our annual summer holiday this year. We were looking for somewhere situated close to the town and the beach. When we arrived at Frixos hotel we were greeted by Maria who gave us a run down of the hotel and how things worked, the rooms were clean, spacious, balcony view, had air con (would recommend paying for air con for the week as it gets very warm at night) and a mini fridge. Our first day in the hotel was unreal, the family and staff running and working in this hotel are the reason we will be booking to come again next year, they go above and beyond to ensure your stay is up to your standards. Maria, George and Ledio in particular made our stay worth while, they made us feel so included and made efforts to make plans with us in the evenings and take us out for drinks, George invited my partner on runs in the evening time which was amazing. Ledio went above and beyond for us each day and has such a great personality. We felt as though we never needed to leave the hotel and pool as we had everything we needed there. There was always enough sun loungers for everyone and the pool was clean. The menu has a great variety of options and their pizza in the evening times are worth waiting for. This is a holiday we will not forget and cannot wait to book for next year. Maria was always so positive and full of energy and always such a laugh. Thank you team Frixos and we can’t wait to see you all again. |Fia...
