Platia Taverna Malia — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

I had my last meal of the Crete trip here, after having seen the 5* reviews of the restaurant. The restaurant is run by a family and the staff, including the owner are kind. But something is missing! There is a fancy restaurant just across from this one and it seems that people area attracted to go there due to the vibe, ambience and also the welcoming atmosphere. The food here is good though i took only moussaka. The dessert by the house was HUGE! Bigger than my main dish itself. So, i honestly feel that this restaurant has lots of potential but needs room revamp the menue and has to adapt the environment a bit to make it appealing, as the restaurant across was full of people whereas walkers didnt stop here willingly. As it is run by a family, i really would love to see this restaurant flourishing in the future and they do something to improve on the points i thought were relevant. We were staying near StalidaBeach and wanted to see and eat in MaliaOldTown. We call us very lucky to come by that place, next to the church AgiasDimitris.

The family who runs that restaurant is very friendly, very polite, very kind. I also liked that there you can sit next to a beautiful tree.

The food was very tasty and reminded us as we experienced it ten years ago, as if in childhood, good taste, nice menu.

We were very happy after our meal and then there came that VERY SPECIAL yoghurt/milk-desert!! An own invention as we got to know :-) EXTREMELY delicious!!

Our meal that we had at Platia Taverna, Malia was absolutely delicious. We had the Mixed Grill for 2 which was also served with chips, salad, bread & Tzaiki. It was all cooked to perfection with a perfect blend of seasoning. We were given a complimentary desert which my husband loved so much he asked to meet the chef who’d made it! The Aunt came out and we explained how much we enjoyed the whole meal. Great food, atmosphere at this family run business.
