Bistronomy_Matala — Restaurant in Municipality of Festos

Simply fantastic! My fiancé and I are from New York, USA, visiting for the first time and had the great fortune of of stumbling upon this gem. The staff was pleasant, engaging and incredibly hospitable. This is a brand new restaurant with a brilliantly eclectic menu. We had the salmon tartar off the menu as well as a ceviche on special that was, simply put, the most stunning ceviche I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It was a delicate symphony of flavor. We(my fiancé and 2 friends) all selected different dishes, each of which was a beautiful development of various cuisines from around the world. It is clear the chef put an immense amount of thought, creativity and love into designing the menu. I can not say enough good things about our experience. I am sorry.....the food was ok, but I never expierenced waiters who mixed up so much. There were many things, but to make it shorter: At the end, we stayed there almost for three hours just for two burgers and a salad, even if we explained in the beginning and also inbetween after waiting for more than one hour, that the salad is not meant as a starter... We received the wrong burgers, Raki was forgotten, everything with the explanation of "sorry, we mixed the tables". Where at the end only three tables were occupied, and three people in service. It all can happen, but if so many things go wrong, an honestly meant excuse, or I don’t know, to offer a drink for free or something like that, if guests have such an unnice dinner experience for also some amount of money, would have made us...

I have had 2 meals at Bistronomy, and they have both been the best meals I have had in Matala. My first meal was the chicken burger. It was cooked to perfection, in a beautiful brioche bun, with the most perfect chips on the side. I could have eaten two of them, if was so delicious! My second meal was the fish special, a local Crete white fish, grilled, with steamed vegetables. Oh. My. God. What a delicious fish, with an olive oil & lemon sauce on the side. And the vegetables were the perfect accompaniment. Definitely worth it, if you get the chance. Both meals were followed by a small bottle of grappa, a piece of orange cake, and fruit. Again, a delight. All compliments of the restaurant. I have three more ays in Matala, and I plan to go back to Bistronomy at least...
