We booked a table for a Sunday at 3 p.m., when my friend got there she was told the only available seating was under the sun or else she had to opt for a table inside (when almost 80% of the outside tables were empty). When she remarked that she made the reservation almost 10 days ago, ie early enough for the manager to ensure an under the shade table, she escorted her to a shaded table which miraculously and coincidentally enough happened to be available in those 2 seconds (!). Later on when I myself arrived, I found the table myself simply because there was no one around to look after reservations; luckily the place was almost empty, so how hard can it be to find your reservation without any help from the staff which was nowhere to be found? When the time to order came, I chose the tacos - not available; then the lobster - not available either. The waiter informed us (not before but after ordering) of the non available items, which was - as my friend remarked - almost half the menu. The waiter didn’t apologise only mumbled that they had a lot of people earlier on, entertainingly laughable since it wasn’t even 4pm and 3/4 of the tables were empty. We got a red smoothie which came with a super tiny paper straw and when the stew soaked up within a couple of minutes and I asked for a more suitable bigger one, I got the response that it was the biggest one they had. Then a croissant with poached eggs and when we asked for some brown bread, we were told that only pita bread was available which in fact was fried crunchy super salty pita bites. Mediocre taste and service, had to ask for napkins. When the time came for a bill we had to wait for at least 20 minutes, having asked already 3 times, as most waiters were idling around looking at the sky, at each other, but Not at the tables which is 101 trained service. My advice: go for the fantastic location and the top notch ambience if you don’t mind the excruciating GMT (Greek Maybe Time) slow service by the minimum wage untrained staff (who are clearly not to blame, it’s obviously failed management) and the overrated...
Read moreBungalow 7 has all the requirements to become a very good venue, but it still has many boxes to tick to arrive at this status. It is located in a great part of the Attika seaside, with amazing proximity to the sea and beautiful views. The restaurant (indoors and outdoors) is elegant and sophisticated. The bar indoors is impressive. Yet, I personally dislike the huge umbrellas that interrupt the views. I understand their necessity in the morning, but I find them inappropriate for a high end restaurant. Service was slow and a bit awkward. After a full night, we still could not identify who was our waiter. It took quite a bit to get the attention of one person and ask for an ashtray. We were offered the menus to look at at least 15 minutes after our arrival. The menus are interesting and we appreciate the flexibility to mix-and-match dishes from the sushi menu with those from the main menu. Once our order was placed, thinks started rolling. Yet, it took us at least five requests to get some ice for our wine. The Crab Caesars' salad was a revelation. I can say it was the best dish of the evening. A mixture of flavours and textures, fresh and crispy. The Blue Crab Rolls were also very good, perfectly made and flavourful. Unfortunately when the mains came, the meat arrived not rear as ordered, the black angus ribs were too salty and the fries were really cold. We were offered a change of meat, but it was late for us at this point. We were also offered a dessert complementary, but the list did not have something we wished to try. The meat was not charged to our bill and this is a proper gesture, but, in all honesty, the feeling that was left was rather negative. It is the details that matter in all situations and faux-pas like wrong cooking and cold dishes can be anticlimactic. The restaurant needs to work on service; people were trying but something was clearly not working. We said we will give Bungalow 7 a second chance hoping that next time we will be much...
Read moreThis restaurant offers stunning views, especially at sunset. However, our experience with the service was very disappointing. When we arrived, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, even though other guests without reservations were seated before us. Once we finally got a table, it took another 10 minutes just to receive glasses. After that, the server asked what type of water we wanted, but it took around 15 minutes for it to arrive and at this point, we still hadn’t been given a menu. When we finally placed our order, I asked for an iced matcha latte, but they brought me a matcha latte instead. After I pointed this out to the server, she returned within two minutes with a glass full of ice, but the matcha inside was still warm since they had simply added ice to the original drink. Additionally, the portion was noticeably smaller than a standard matcha latte, likely because they had transferred it from a mug. Later, we politely asked if we could move to an indoor table because we were feeling cold. The server took over 20 minutes to inform us that there were no available tables. While we completely understand that availability was limited, the long wait just to get a response was frustrating. Overall, the restaurant itself was nice, but the service was incredibly poor especially for a...
