Naftilos — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

We went to Nautilos this evening and are very glad we did.

First of all it has an open-roofed backyard that’s decorated beautifully in blues and whites with flowers, an old motorcycle, a fountain, rustic well-picked decor and you might see the odd gecko there. It’s family-run and everybody was extremely nice and super attentive.

We had grilled sardines, grilled shrimp, eggplant, zucchini balls and some toasted bread. We also had some good chips that might have come with one of the dishes (I can’t tell which one though). For dessert we were gifted some exceptional ice-cream with cinnamon on a stringy-sweet baked nest of sorts and fresh fruit and something that might have been grappa.

After a very delayed flight, my partner and I arrived in Heraklion seeking some food in the early hours of Friday morning. Despite it being after 1am, we were made to feel most welcome and were invited to sit and stay in Naftilos. I can sincerely say my meal here was one of the most enjoyable of my life, with the seafood pasta being delicious and the portion sizes incredibly generous! The service was fantastic, and I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone visiting Heraklion.

We were looking in Kreta a for real local restaurant. It was difficult to find one, since Kreta, especially there were lots of hotels are. Finally we have found Nautilus. First time, there wasn't Pizza or Fries promoted, haha. We ordered sea food and flesh, which was realy great and affordable. The dessert was great.
