Best restaurant in Ierapetra! We have tried a few of the most rated restaurants in Ierapetra but this one is definitely where we found the most delicious food with the best service and for a good price. The owner is very kind and friendly, he helps with your order (there are so many good options to choose from the menu) and you should definitely ask for his recommendations, you will not regret it. We had the eggplant rolls, levante salad, the courgette flower filling ("dolma") and the grilled octopus. We have tried grilled octopus all over Crete but this one is by far the best grilled octopus we have ever tried. You will know the difference. (I couldn't add it's picture because we finished it before I could think of taking a picture of it😂) Also the service was extremely fast and perfect. They often check if you need anything. Thank you for the treats both as appetizers and after the dinner fruit and Cretan raki! Best value for price. Don't leave Crete without...

We went here at lunchtime and ordered swordfish and octopus. It came with a small uninteresting salad on the plate but no chips/potatoes. (We were brought a basket of bread for which a €2 charge was added to the bill). The swordfish was overcooked in parts and the octopus was not the best I've eaten; also I thought the 2 pieces of octopus I was given for was dear for the price charged. However the setting of the restaurant is fabulous, next to the sea and we had a very interesting chat with the proprietor, who is the 3rd generation to run the restaurant (it's also recommended in The Rough Guide, which is why we went there- perhaps our expectations were too high...

Von den vielen positiven Kritiken beeindruckt, suchten wir das "Levante" gezielt auf. Als wir draußen zunächst die Karte anschauen wollten, kam ein Herr (wie sich später rausstellte - der Chef) festen Schrittes auf uns zu und knallte uns ein "Bilderbuch" auf die eigentlich schöne Speisekarte und pries uns alles an. Weil wir aber unbedingt dorthin wollten, sahen wir über die Aufdringlichkeit des Chefs hinweg und setzten uns. Während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts "bestach" der Chef mit einer unvergleichlichen Unfreundlichkeit, die auch der nette Kellner leider nicht wett machen konnte. Wenn ich die Fotos des gegrillten Oktopus anderer Gäste anschaue, bereue ich, kein Foto von meinem gemacht zu haben, um zu zeigen, wie er dort auch serviert wird. Statt 3 schön gegrillten Armen hatte ich 2 (eher 1 1/2) sehr knusprige dunkle Arme, am Rand des Tellers fand sich ein kleines bißchen Creme, dazu 1 kleines Salatblatt mit 1/2 Kirschtomate. Die zerlassene Butter und die frische Zitrone möchte ich jedoch positiv erwähnen. Geschmacklich war es lecker gewürzt, aber insgesamt sehr lieblos (und zu knusprig). Unterirdisch war jedoch die Seezunge meiner Frau, die von einer dermaßen dicken Panade zugekleistert war, dass man von dem bißchen Fisch gar nichts schmeckte. Nachdem sie die Panade entfernt und die 3 Gabeln Fisch gegessen hatte, ging der Teller genauso voll zurück wie er serviert wurde. Auch hier sehr lieblos "angerichtet": im Prinzip war es Panade auf Pommes gelegt, dabei 1 kleines Salatblatt, 1/2 Kirschtomate und 1/2 Zitrone... Der Kritik nahm sich zwar der Kellner, nicht aber der mürrische Chef an. Positiv anzumerken ist jedoch die Karaffe Raki und die Melone, die uns der nette Kellner an den Tisch brachte.
